So I had 18 banked points from 2022 and when I switched resorts for our April stay last month I inadvertently sent them back to the bank. (I booked new room before canceling old room) So now what? I have to use the banked points before my 2024 use year starts Dec 1st?

That sounds correct. If the points were originally December 2022 and were banked into December 2023, they must be used for stays which are completed by 11/30/2024.

Had you noticed it before you actually traveled, MS could have helped you reallocate if you were doing it more than 31 days out.

But, once a trip is completed, there is no way to retroactively go back and change the points that were used.

So, these will indeed need to be used prior to Dec 1st, 2024.
