Has anyone from Canada had personal experience ordering merchandise from Disney's mail order service after coming home from a trip?
How much was shipping and/or duty if any? I noticed prices on Allears but I think that might be outdated. :confused3

do you mean shopping from disneystore.com or shipping your purchases from the park so you don't have to lug them through the airport?

made several purchases from disneystore.com, haven't used the shipping service.

First of all, thanks for posting. ;) To answer your question, neither. We were just at WDW and forgot to buy something. There is a toll free number on the top of each receipt where you can call Disney Merchandise and ask them to locate an item and ship it to your home. The AllEars website says the shipping rate for Canadians (I assume it would be 'international') is $25 for $20-$30 worth of merchandise. I was just hoping that had changed. I can't imagine paying more for shipping than what the item itself is worth....plus any duty.

I know that with disneystore.com, the shipping can be wonky - really high for small purchases and relatively small for larger purchases. I guess it depends on the size of the parcel that they are sending and the weight.

I am a D23 member and I wanted an exclusive pin, which was going to cost me $10.00 to ship. I was able to wait until I had more things I wanted to order, and the shipping for all three items was still $10.00.

I would assume with a specialized service like the one you describe, the shipping and handling would cost more - if you can't see the item on disneystore.com, someone is probably physically going to a WDW shop and pulling the item to be shipped to you.

That's not bad shipping for buying online.....too bad what I want is resort specific. I agree, it likely costs more because someone has to physically locate the item and deliver it to the proper department for packing and shipping. Owe. Oh well.....guess we'll have to wait till next January and hope they still have them. :guilty:

Have you tried disneystore.com - they do carry park-authentic items that have the resort name on them etc - take a peek and make sure they don't carry it before you pay a little more for this service.

When you're on disneystore.com, there is a tab on the far right about two inches from the top that says "Theme Park Products"

Where in Ontario do you live? I'm going next week, and if the item isn't too large, I'd be happy to work something out with you to pick it up for you if you like. I know what it's like to want something and not be able to get it because of shipping costs. That's what DIS friends are for, right?:goodvibes

Thanks for the advice. I did check but don't see any 'resort specific' merchandise unless I'm missing something. I'm looking for a coffee mug that says 'Disney's Saratoga Springs' on it....and a matching toothpick holder if they have one.....I read/saw on another board that they just came out with some (also OKW which I'd like too) and we just missed them.

How thoughtful are you? I thought of asking but I figured it would be a bit of a pain.....If it was something you could easily pick up at the MK or DTD I'd say "SURE!" but since its 'resort specific' merchandise, I believe it would require actually GOING to that resort and picking it up and I couldn't ask anyone to go out of their way and do that for me (unless of course your going to SSR?) Then, because it is a coffee mug I want, they can be a bit bulky and take up otherwise precious room for your souvenirs....so I wouldn't want to burden anyone with that.....but thanks for offering.

You're so very welcome! I just thought if you lived nearby here in Ontario, I would have no problem picking up your item and you could pick it up or we could meet somewhere and I would give it to you that way. We are not going to SSR this trip though (love staying there!), as this is a budget, non-DVC trip, so hope you can get it when you go back. I'm sure they'll still have it as they don't change merchandise styles that often.:goodvibes

We did it once, ordered the Star Wars Weekends Mr. Potato Heads back in 2009 because they weren't in-stock yet when we were at the parks. Shipping was pricey, basically it doubled the price of the purchase (they shipped UPS so you also had to pay PST+GST upon delivery). Was still a bit cheaper than inflated eBay prices though.

We live near Windsor (about 4hrs from Fort Erie).....so that was another thing I was concerned about. As for having them when we go back....we've been finding if we don't grab it when we see it, its usually gone the next time we are there.....but here's hoping. :goodvibes

Thanks for your input. I never even thought of them charging us PST+GST (or is it just HST now) So on top of shipping, duty and those taxes, yeah, I think it can wait till our next trip. :sad1:

Let me know what you want, and I'll pick it up for you. We're staying in an SSR THV (wholly acronym Batman) starting March 24th. My parents are coming with us, and they live in Welland. Or are you the one living in Windsor, not Fort Erie.... arghhh, I'm confused now.

I live near Windsor....that's o.k....I appreciate you offering....I realize this has no easy solution (I don't want to bother anyone to have to ship it).
I'll just be patient and wait till our trip next year....it'll be here before we know it. ;)
