For anyone who cares - I tried the tamale today. It came with beans and rice. I added the pork and beef on top in order to try both. Overall I think it was a big improvement. The beef was not overly sweet (which I was worried about) it’s more like a tangy barbecue sauce. The pork had good flavor a nice green chile and tomatillo type flavor but was only slightly spicy. The beans and rice were both good - and best of all not dried out and gross. The tamale tasted great but was a little more like a polenta cake than a traditional tamale. I think they use a finer grind of cornmeal as it didn’t have the crunch or density of a traditional masa tamale. Still tasted great though.
I hope all of you have a positive experience with the new menu too. It’s a big improvement in the proteins IMO. This has been my Pecos Bill Ted talk.
