They have stopped shooting because they have no finished script. All those millions of struggling writers out there in Hollyweird, and they don't have a finished script for a multi-million dollar production. And to top it all off, it's sounding like it may end up being a disaster. Will Smith's character is set to go back in time to 1969? :rolleyes1 Sounds a little like Austin Powers???

Now they've stopped shooting while another "crackerjack ace writer" is brought in to "do revisions." So glad I refuse to ever participate again in the entertainment industry. They won't even talk to some no name writer, that may be a genius and would write the greatest script ever, because he doesn't have "an agent", or hasn't "written the latest 300 million dollar movie".

Yet, they get the A name writers that can't even come up with a story, finished script etc., that doesn't sound like total re-hashed week old garbage full of baby diapers. Hollyweird could mess up a cup of coffee.

I think they going back in time might be interesting

It sounds like they really don't have any plan or script, other than a "1st act." I'm just afraid that them doing it on the fly more or less the story is going to suffer and an otherwise great franchise will go the way of the Wild Wild West, or other horrible typical hollywood formula movies. Script and story are king in the movie biz IMO, and if they don't have a script.....well, that reminds me of the line from the Woody Allen movie where hollywood types were at a party talking, one said:

"I have a notion, I'm trying to get some development money to turn it into a concept, and then eventually an idea." :rotfl2:

So hollywood, I don't have a finished script, but I've got a "notion."

If it makes you feel any better, none of the stars in Casablanca knew the ending until they were given the last few pages. I believe this has occurred on more than one famous (in a good way) film.
I'm so stoked that there will be a MIB 3! Just what I have wanted!

It's a business like any other. What has leaked is probably spin to grab interest. The business of show business is more involved than a few leaked releases.

That doesn't mean the writers didn't know the script.

When Empire Strikes Back was being filmed...Mark Hamill wasn't told about the big secret of Darth Vader until right before it was shot...added to the emtional performance ;)

I can see MIB III being set in 1969...I could even help with the script!

So do they have Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones on retainer or what?? I bet that's exspensive!

Yeah but that was back in the old studio hollywood days, when script mattered and was considered the most important aspect, or top 3 of the films. Today scripts are sometimes almost looked at as icing on the cake with all the emphasis on the stars, formula, action etc.

Don't get me wrong, I hope its great, I just don't have much faith in the modern Hollywood movie making process when it comes to proper script development and writing. What has me concerned was from the sound of it, and I now hollywood has a tendency to do this, they know about the bankability of the franchise, so it sounds like they were getting the 2 main stars and immediately go to work filming without hashing out any really thought out, let alone finished script. To me that is just the makings of a disaster.
