Men & Gift Wrapping

How come woman have to make statements that are so stereotypical? I suck at wrapping presents but I frickin try. I make a conscientious effort to wrap the gifts for my wife as nice as possible.

So since some of you make stereotypical statements here's mine - women are so much better because they have small hands.

hey! not all of us are like that! i even said my DH2B is better than me at wrapping gifts! i told him when we start having kids i'll box everything, and he can wrap(which i really like because half the time things are already boxed! :lmao: )

What's the deal? :confused3 Is it really that difficult to make a sharp crease/edge? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

That's all I'm going to say...;)

I've been told I'm a really good gift wrapper.

(my dfi says it's from my "gay" side)

 She sounds fun. :lmao: :thumbsup2

Abe- There was no malice intended when I started this thread. It was simply an observation. Some posters agreed with me, others disagreed. Like with any thread that is started here, there is always the risk that someone will be offended. The only way to avoid that is to post nothing on these boards.:confused3

It's all good. I did see your post and I'm glad that some ladies are kind enough to step up and speak the truth against stereotyping all men.

But I do still suck at wrapping paper. :lmao:

I don't see what the big deal is!! Why do you think they invented brown paper bags, staplers, and cans of red and green spray paint?

Put it in the bad, staple it shut, and spray away!!!:woohoo: :wizard:

Apparently it is because my DH handed me gifts in the bag from the stores for years. Now the kids help him wrap gifts.

Yes it is. :rotfl2: I once wrapped a gift for my mom and I swear her first response was to look at my THEN 5 year old daughter and say "Oh Allie, did you wrap this?" Not cool, mom. not cool. :lmao:

My husband wraps better then I do. I would put him to work but I don't want him to know about all the crap I bought. I haul out the presents Christmas morning so he can't very well say take half of it back.:lmao:

wrapping paper and tape??? not my DH, he doesn't know what to do with it.

But give the man comics and Duct tape...and it will look better than anything I could do. ( but then no one can really open the gift without a razor knife, so we accept the store bags willingly)

I wrap like a typical guy who can't wrap. I hate wrapping gifts and it shows.
DH is about like me so there are no pretty packages coming from this house.

My BIL, OTOH, wraps all the gifts at their house. My sister can't please him with her wrapping. :) Yet, my mom wraps a pretty present. I must have learned from my dad.

I was going to say the same thing. The only difference is that now he shops where they'll wrap it for him. I've learned to recognize Williams-Sonoma wrapping paper. :rotfl:

Sadly I have to admit that my dh wraps much better than I do. But he's a perfectionist and I'm not, so I think that is a lot of it. It works well, he hates shopping and I don't like wrapping (since I'm not very good at it). So I do all the Christmas shopping and he does all the Christmas wrapping.

I really suck at wrapping and was so glad when DDs were old enough to wrap DWs gifts for me. Now they're grown and have moved away. I guess it's back to gift bags, hired wrap jobs, and semi-lousy attempts from me. :santa:

EVERYTHING about gift-wrapping is hard for my DH.

Yesterday, we had a lot going on, so I asked him to help DD wrap her friend's bday gifts before heading out to the party. I hollered downstairs, "Don't forget to take the price tags off!" Too late. So they unwrapped the gifts and proceeded to take the tags off. And DH decides to take the sticky tags off the puffy-covered notebook with a KNIFE. And the notebook cover gets a big hole in it.

60 minutes until party time, and he had to take DD back to the store (we live in a rural area, so it's a good 20 minute drive one way). Ugh.

The gift was HORRIBLY wrapped as DD finally headed out to the party. And the price tag was still on, just blacked out with a Sharpie.

I can't gift wrap.
It's just a skill I don't possess.
I try, but it always ends up looking like a 3 year old did it, and I'm covered in tape.
Oh well, can't be perfect at everything ;)

My DH rocks at it - he even worked in the gift wrapping section of a retail store he worked at in high school.

He's a perfectionist - me? not so much.

Part of my first job was covering the wrapping desk during lunch breaks at Macy's. I still put alot of effort into wrappping 30 years later.
