Men and Crocs

Guys, do any of you actually wear these things?

  • sure do, wouldn't leave the resort without them.

  • No way, I wouldn't be caught dead out in public wearing them.

Hi,

Yes, I did look at their three different RX Crocs, but none of the descriptions mention arch support, just other foot conditions. I'll keep on the lookout though - perhaps they'll be released soon... :goodvibes

it has been my understanding that Crocs' customer service is really good about answering inquiries like this. It's worth a shot.....:surfweb:

You can take my "man card" away all you want I love my crocs! I have the off brand Air Walk's camo style and they are so comfortable and cool!

Wow, great response to my thread/poll. From reading some of the posts, I guess I should explain that I already own a pair. I know how comfortable they are.My dilemma is whether to wear them out in public or not. Especially to WDW.I wish I knew about the NFL ones before I bought the ones I did. I'm more than likely going to bring them with me to WDW.

I got my size 11 Crocs yesterday (exchanging the 10s my wife bought me). There was a man getting a pair of bright orange ones the same time I was there--he looked like a banker. (Mine are olive green.)

I wore them all day yesterday (I am self-employed and can wear what I like) and they are among the most, if not THE most, comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I was a little stunned at how comfortable they are (I thought they would be hot). They are incredibly light on the feet and give great support. Usually a new shoe gives me a blister by the end of the day (except for sneakers) and these don't. I am seriously considering getting another pair and also looking at their very streamlined sandal (I tend to be a big sandal wearer in the summer.)

If these are "clown shoes", then call me Krusty. I would not wear them just anywhere--I am definitely a fashion conscious guy, but I also don't worry too much about what other people think of what I'm wearing--and I think they will be perfect for WDW.

I think Crocs are god awful ugly - that being said, they are comfortable as all heck & I love my pair!

DH broke down & bought some for himself - we call them "CROCK-A-DOCKS" they're a cross between a typical croc but have a leather upper like a traditional docksider. Manly, & a great boating shoe.

My dh is a very manly man :love2: and was making fun of me getting some so I ordered him a pair :rotfl: I got him the cyman crocs with the NE Patriots logo on the back so they look somewhat cool. Of COURSE he's loving the way they feel! He wore them to his hockey match the other night and a couple of others players had thema nd they got into a big croc discussion.

Ok, I've now read all the posts. I'm searching for a way to make my DH try these and will be using some of your manly opinions. I will also use the typical wife approach I'm seeing and order his next week when I order mine!

I am also seeing a pattern. The guys all seem fine about wearing them at WDW, it's outside of that which seems to be at the heart of discussion. Are you worried that you'll love them and want to continue wearing them????

I wear mine everywhere. I have reached a point that I will take comfort over looks anyday.... and since I do have a back problem, that is all the more important to me.....:surfweb:

I'd wear them to run errands, around the house, at WDW. I wouldn't wear them (at least not yet) to a social event. I might wear them to a baseball game. Actually, they'd be a good choice on a rainy day.

I'm going to an outdoor music festival in September and they'd be a good choice for that. I might wear them to the movies or to go browse at the book store. Wouldn't wear them on a date with my wife. And I live in a town known for casual dressing.

I wouldn't wear them to a dinner party or a cocktail party. ;)

I posted early on in this thread that Crocs do not seem to offer me enough arch support (and I've given them a very fair chance!) In doing some research I've read on the Net that a good number of podiatrists recommend Crocs. However, arch support is their one complaint - the company seems to have minimized this aspect of their shoes as to make them more widely popular. One podiatrist mentioned (in a 2006 posting) that Crocs told him they were working on a shoes with additional arch support. Did it ever come out? Others have made mention of adding inserts for arch support, which makes Crocs very comfortable for those with arch issues.

In addition to posting this information, I also have a question. Many recommend Brooks "Addiction" line of walking and running shoes (they have both models in this line) for the ultimate in tennis/gym shoe comfort. Does anyone have a recommendation or experience with these? I have an old pair of Brooks running shoes and although in bought them in 2001, they still feel like I'm walking on a cloud... Perhaps it's time I bought some of their Addiction shoes?

If you go to the Crocs site there is a guy on there that ran 2 marathons in a pair and he did add the stick in arch supports to his to run in them. I've run several miles at one time in my Beachs with socks as is just fine that's really what converted me I think.

:rotfl: I don't think I'd wear tennis shoes to a cocktail party either!

Sounds like they're growing on you. . .
