I am trying to decide on a Birthday gift for my DW while at WDW. We have never done memory maker before and not sure it is worth the $$$. Also thought a wishes fireworks cruise would be nice also, since we will have DD9 and DS5 along and they have never done a fireworks cruise before. Any helpful opinions on either idea would be appreciated, thanks fellow DIS'ers! 20 days and counting......

I think MM is good if you will be there at Xmas time or if you have a lot of character meet and greets. I have only done the pirate and pals firework cruise which was awesome for my pirate loving little one.... I don't know if I would think it was really worth it if my dd wasn't obsessed with pirates. Personally, I would suggest a birthday present of sending the kids to the kids club while you guys have a signature meal. I would be thrilled if my husband scheduled that!

I actually got MM for my birthday, but I had to basically buy it myself. Is your DW a photobook person or someone who prints pictures a lot? If so, I bet she'd love the MM like me! I'm so excited to not have to lug my giant camera around all the time. Can get good pics with MM and with the cellphone without the hassle/risk of taking my good camera around with me for a week. We do plan to do a lot of characters since DD is only 2. If you're mainly going to ride rides, there wouldn't be too many MM opportunities, but you do get ride videos and pictures which is neat.

I don't know anything about the fireworks cruise, so I can't speak for that, but I am a MM fan! In summary, I'd say do MM if she's a printed picture or photobook-making kind of person. If she's only going to post a few phone shots to Facebook, not-so-much.

We have done the EPCOT fireworks cruise. You board at Yacht club, sail to the Studios and then back to EPCOT for mooring. The view is fine, you don't have to worry about fighting the crowds. The snacks are prepackaged items. Waters, sodas, chips, cookies. They also will have blankets available as well. I think the cost was around $300, which is a flat rate up to 10 people. I feel that we really got a good value because there was the holiday finale at EPCOT. Not sure we would have done it otherwise.

There are groups that share the cost of memory maker so you may want to look into those as well to save a little money.
