OK silly question--might have an obvious answer... How does MM know which car you are on to automatically upload your ride photos if you dont have to stop at the counter to find your picture??

FWIW...we did the PP+ when it first rolled out a couple of years ago. The family was over the moon about their pictures. They loved the ride pics. We had bunches of snaps from every character meal. The teens even stopped to get pics done while roaming on their on. Those pics were almost the only evidence we had that we took them with us! For us, it was worth it. If it is available next spring (and still includes enough) we will do it again.
The ride pictures automatically connect and you can view them in your account if you have MM.
Also, we had 8 member of our party and were at WDW for 2 weeks. Out of the ride photos we had taken, only 1 picture was not connected correctly. It somehow connected the ride car in front of the one that we were in one of the times we rode RNR. No problems with any of the other ride photos.
So we are staying at WDW for a week followed by a Disney Cruise, all part of the same trip. If we get the MM would it include the photos taken on the Cruise?
This was news here last week. I don't have the link, but they are discontinuting the option to purchase meal photos at your table (at the dining locations that currently offer them) as well as the photos you get with your meal at Akershus and CRT. If I understood correctly, you will still be able to have the photos taken, and they will still appear in the MM account.

For the past year or so Disney has been hiring a ton of photographers. Many
locations that never had a photographer, have photographers most of the day. It's still dependant on attendance of course - you can't start a location if someone called in sick. But generally the amount of photographers across property has greatly increased. As long as it's safe for them to be out there with equipment you're going to find more photographers than years past.
As for as cruise photos, the Disney Cruise Line uses a third party photographer for photos and they are not PhotoPass, unfortunately. Those photos won't be included.
