What rides do memory maker include? Any videos? And how do you know which photographers do Magic Shots?

Thanks In advance! Leaving tomorrow for my son's first Disney trip!

  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Also takes a video)
  • Rock ‘n Roller Coaster
  • Test Track
  • Expedition Everest
  • Dinosaur
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Also takes a video)
As far as magic shots, just ask the photographer if they have any "magic shots" or "animated magic shots"

Rides: 7DMT, Test Track, Tower of Terror, Rock-n-Rollercoaster, Dinosaur, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Space Ranger Spin (those are the ones I can remember)
Videos: 7DMT, Tower of Terror, Baymax Magic shot video, Monster's Inc. Magic Shot Video, Lumiere Magic Shot Video
As for photographers who do magic shots...you just have to ask and keep asking. Some can do many magic shots, some will go to different areas to do certain magic shots with you.

Usually the photographers without a tripod can do a magic shot, you only have to ask. Sometimes they'll ask you to pose a certain way, which sets up the magic shot. This is a magic shot.

I had purchased it a few years ago and prior to the trip I received the pass in the mail but had to activate it at the park. Is that still how it is done or now in the magic band?

Thanks!!! Do you have to do anything special when exit the above mentioned rides, or are they automatically added?

If you (or anyone linked to your account) is wearing a magic band that is linked to the same account as your memory maker then they are captured automatically.

We found it to be very reliable, but others have said their photo was not captured automatically. If you feel better doing it yourself, you can tap your magic band below the picture you want at the picture viewing area after the ride (except 7DMT - no viewing area, automatic only).

If you are not using magic band then you must tap your card.

My husband and I will have annual passes and through the RCI/DVC timeshare exchange, will have 3 consecutive (minus a 1 day gap between the 2nd and 3rd week) reservations.

Is it possible to buy one memory maker and have it cover the entire 3 weeks worth of photos? Is it attached to your room, or to your park tickets? And how long will the photos be available to download?

We're trying to decide if it'd be worth it or not. We can see buying it once for the whole trip, but having to buy it multiple times, not so much.

I think you have 30 days to capture photos https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/help/memory-maker/

For three weeks, I'm sure it'd be worth it! All pictures expire (disappear from your account online) 45 days after each was taken, so you'll want to start downloading before that first picture is 45 days old. You can continue to ADD pictures for 30 more days after your first download. So if you time it right, you can spread out one MM purchase for up to 75 days & it doesn't matter if there are breaks between.

You no longer have to activate it at the park. If you purchased online, it should show in your MDE account. If you receive(d) a card in the mail, just make sure the number shows up in your MDE. If you do not have Magic a Bands (staying offsite) you will show your card when you get your picture taken or after rides where the CM or photographer will scan your card to digitally attach it to your account.

If you have a magic band, You do not need to do anything to capture your photo. If no magic bands, you need to stop at the photo viewing area after the ride to scan your card. The exception is 7 dwarfs mine train, which does not have a photo viewing area. If you have a MB, the photo is automatically captured; if no MB, you can't get your photo and video of this ride.

We have a group of 11 going down in November staying in three different rooms onsite. Can I buy one Memory Maker and have everyone's Magic Bands liked to it? Will it capture everyone's ride photos even if I'm not on the ride?

Thanks
Ty

Yes. You must make sure to link all your My Disney Experience accounts, set everyone to be able to view and purchase your photopass pictures on the MDE website. It won't matter which band gets scanned the pictures will show up.

Hi Ty,
Yes, that is the way it is supposed to work. However, as I cautioned in my original post some people have had issues with the automatic photo capture feature. I would tell them to tap their magic band at the tap terminal below their photo at the photo viewing area at the end of the ride just to make sure. Also, it might be a good idea to check your photos at night when you get back to your room. Maybe overly cautious but it may give you peace of mind.

Here is a very informative write-up of Memory Maker:

Hope this helps. Have a great trip!
