So I know right away what everyone will say...
It depends on how many MM rides you go on, character meals you eat and times you'll stop for a Photopass Photographer.

Here's my question...
We are going next week (yea!) for the first time just me DH, DD5 and DS5. We've always traveled with more people than that (usually 6-15 total). My 2 schools of thought are:

There's only 4 of us, lower key trip, is it necessary?

There's only 4 of us, easier to grab a quick photo and we can be in some (although just relying on MM for meet and greets makes me nervous).

Just wanted some feedback, thanks!

Three of us went during Halloween and loved having the memory maker. Especially the magic shots. We have such cute pictures where they added Olaf (with snow), Mike Wazowski, and Tinkerbell. It was just convenient having someone else take the pictures of the three of us together. Also i loved the little ride clips too, especially the tower of terror!

I've done several trips with just my family of four and we find it worthwhile. Especially now that ride photos and videos are added automatically. Granted we don't mind stopping multiple times a day for the photographers, and we do a lot of meet & greets, but on our last 8 day trip we got about 300 pictures. Well worth it for us.

We usually get it and I think we will this time too! I guess my other problem is that I don't usually DO anything with the pictures and we travel to WDW twice a year.

This time I'll get and maybe print some out for my kids rooms or something!

Since you go so often, I would go ahead and get it. The MM is not activated until you first download pictures. So, if you get home and decide you don't like the pictures or only like one or two, you can skip downloading the pictures and just buy the ones you want. However, if you decided you like the pictures, then you will have the option of having all of them (with the pre-purchase price). If you end up not downloading them, the MM entitlement will remain in your account until you do decide to use it, so you could just save it for your next trip (I've had a promotional MM in my account since last year because we did a split stay and I already had one activated for that trip).

I thought it was only valid for 45 days once activated?

I wouldn't get one just for the 3 of us, but I've certainly participated in a couple of shares before, and am hosting a share for this year's holiday.

It is traditionally only DH and I and we ALWAYS buy it and get tons of photos. I can't imagine taking a trip without it.

I thought the same thing! Does anyone know for sure?

We are a family of 3, and will purchase MM for our upcoming trip. We have done PP+ every year it was offered, and can't tell you how much we love the pictures. Yes, I bring my own camera, and phone, but it's so nice to have all ride and dining photos, as well as all 3 of us in the pictures. We stop for just about every photographer we see (sometimes getting multiple shots just different distances), love adding borders, and have never had less than 400 pictures. In my opinion, get it, so worth it! HTH! Have a great trip! :goodvibes

It's good for 30 days from the first download. If you don't do the download it never gets turned on so to speak.

Photos expire (get deleted) from your account 45 days after they were taken,

If you have a photo taken today (Jan 27) it will expire Mar 13. If you do your first MM download on Mar 13, any pictures that are still valid and in your account until Apr 12 can be downloaded as part of MM.

We have put our photos onto a digital photo frame. It scrolls through a shuffled version of many different holidays but mainly disney. Sometimes we end up standing and watching it for ages saying remember this remember that etc.

We love memory maker but we did tend to purchase at least 4 or 5 ride photos per holiday so when you knock the price of these off the cost of memory maker it's not too expensive and you are all in the photo a big bonus!
