Memory Maker/MDE Sharing Clarification

I apologize if this is not the correct board to post this on. I tried the Budget Board and didn't get any responses. I will try to be clear and cut to the chase. However, I want to make sure I am crystal clear on Memory Maker sharing. Since it was "my idea" I don't want unforeseen problems to pop up.) My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) is traveling to WDW at the same time as our friends who are also a family of 4 (2 adults, child, infant). We are staying at the same resort. I purchased the MM on MDE account. I am the only one in my family with MDE account. Only the husband of the other party has a MDE account. At the time I purchased MM, our 2 MDE accounts were not shared. We were keeping everything separate to avoid any confusion, etc. When they decided they would like to share MM, I sent the husband an invite on MDE. He accepted. Here is where my questions begin.

1. Will the husband's magic band need to be scanned each time they have a photo taken or could the wife or child's band be used instead? Just want to make sure the wife doesn't need to create a MDE account as well.

2. Will my teenagers be able to go their separate ways from us and still have their photos on our account or does everything go from my band?

3. Should each person have their own MDE account and link them all or are we okay just having the two primary guests "share" access? I guess this question would probably clarify for the others.

4. I read somewhere that the rides that have videos will only work with my Magic Band. Is that correct? We will not be spending all of our time together since our children are not near the same ages and will have different interests.


I'm the one that talked them into sharing to save money. I'm just nervous and don't want to screw anything up. I know that I will be the only one allowed to download photos from my account. (I plan to just give them my access info. since they are long time, trusted friends)

Firstly, don't stress...I did a share last year & we had to add a husband a week after we got home and all his pics popped up after the fact...so it's easily fixable if something isn't quite linked right. As for you and your immediate family that you manage on your MDE, you can split up and they can scan their own bands when needed...everything will show up for you. For your friend, I would go ahead and send an invite to his wife and kids to link as family...he manages them so the invite for those individuals will still come through his MDE and ask for his approval. If you click on the Add Family area....it will probably say "People You Might Know"...and the wife and kids are probably listed there. That would be the best way to ensure the wife/kids ride photos show up for you. Now, once everyone is linked, your friend can click on your name in his MDE and check the box that says "PixieDustAholic is allowed to view and purchase my photos" ...that allows you to download all his stuff.
