Memory Maker and staying off-site

Does anyone who stayed off-site and used Memory Maker care to share your experience? If Memory Maker is linked to your account, were you able to have the CM scan your ticket for pictures or did they have to scan your Memory Maker card? I am wondering how this will work when our party of 6 splits and goes different directions in the park. My dd and I will be doing meet and greets and dh and dss will be on attractions with ride photos. I'm hoping to be able to have all the pictures on our account.
