Memories of the DREAM come true ….. 08/09 All 30 days done!

Day 10, August 22

Nassau – take 1! - Part 3

Once we had finished lunch we had to hurry as we wanted to join a ship's tour, the "Making of the DREAM" tour.
We had to go to Meridian to meet with our host and there were already quite a few people up there, so we joined them. A little later the official tour began and first we were introduced to the history of the ship, the building in the Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany and then it was on to explore the ship. We went to many areas of the ship

and our host showed us some overlooked things on board and pointed out a few cruise firsts.

We went through all the bars and learned a bit about the fun little details. We even visited some of the restrooms which are especially beautiful. And all too soon our 1 hour tour was over.
We said our goodbyes and walked back to our stateroom again. There were more Fish Extender gifts left for us and when we walked out on the veranda they were still hooking up the lifeboats again.
We sat out on the veranda admiring the view of the Atlantis in the distance

until it was time to get ready to go to that night's show, Villains Tonight.

It was a wonderful performance and while the story was fun it did not appeal to us as much as the Golden Mickeys.
On the way back to our stateroom we stopped at some of the enchanted art on board

and were surprised to see even more gifts in our Fish Extender. There were a few gifts that were perfect for our table mates Stephanie and Paige, so we put them aside to give them to them.
We also filled a small bag with hard candy we had brought to give to Ana, as I promised her a sticker if she could remember my name the next day.
I was sure she could as they had all our data in their computer, but it was fun to promise anyway.
Our stateroom host had done turn down service and left us a fun towel animal

IMG_1237-1.jpg

and we rested for a little while and watched the DREAM pull out of Nassau

before heading to the Royal Palace for dinner. Again, we were the first to be taken to our table.
Ana DID remember our names and even our choice of drinks, as she brought them out without even asking, so she got her little reward bag of candy.
She was very surprised and very happy. She told us that she loved everything sweet and they had to buy their sweets on board during a cruise, so this was a welcome treat. She even promised to share it with her serving team.
Soon after the rest of our tablemates arrived. There were already two breadbaskets on the table, but I failed to take a photo.
Today's bread service was Warm Herb Brioche with

IMG_1241.jpg

an Olive Spread. Again we all tried some and it was really nice. After all the drinks were served, Sapto took our order and a few minutes later we were all served our appetizers. I started off my meal with

IMG_1242.jpg

a heavenly light Double Baked Spinach Souffle, coated with a three cheese cream. Tom tried

IMG_1245.jpg

the Pomegranate Glazed Duck Breast with Gewurztraminer gelee and pomegranate glaze. Soon after we had finished our starters and the plates had been cleaned our main courses arrived.
Tom had ordered

IMG_1250.jpg

the Double Cut Rack of Lamb with a Dijon Crust, with fine green beans, gratin potatoes and rosemary jus while I had ordered

IMG_1247-1.jpg

the Royal Palace Aged Angus Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Lobster Medallions, sauteed snow peas and marquis potatoes with a cognac reduction. We all enjoyed our dinner very much and soon it was time to order dessert. Sapto recommended

IMG_1252.jpg

the Peanut Butter Mousse, Dark chocolate infused with peanut butter, chiffon cake, and whipped cream, so I ordered it and was not disappointed. Tom ordered

IMG_1255-1.jpg

the Grand Marnier Souffle, infused with fresh orange zest and served with creme Anglaise and he was very pleased with it. We all still sat there for a while chatting away until we noticed that the servers were already preparing the dining room for the next morning, so we said our goodbyes and went our merry ways. We again walked through the stores on board and then finally walked up to our stateroom.
We still had to deliver our fish extender gifts

IMG_1258-1.jpg

and walked up and down the ship to deliver them. It was fun and we took it as our exercise that day. It took about an hour to deliver all our gifts and when we got back we were tired and after a short rest out on the veranda we called it a night. It was going to be a fun day the next day, Castaway Cay was calling.

To be continued ..........

Wow..must say those photos from the ship do look beautiful, even with my fear of heights and deep water (if I ever booked a Cruise I'd be having nightmares of the ship bumping into something and falling over :scared1:).

The entertainment looks fantastic and of course the food looks incredible! :cloud9:

Reading your Cruise TR's is a nice way for me to see all the fun without actually having to be on-board!! ;) :rotfl:

Thank you for more great photos, Karin!:cheer2:

Yum, I could go for some of that dessert right now....Diet is not going good for me. LOL

Another great day :goodvibes

i love the sound of the ship tour, I'll look out for that :thumbsup2

We really got a heavy dusting of Pixie dust for our February trip! :thumbsup2

The DREAM is a truely beautiful ship and her "younger" sister looks equally beautiful. Have you seen the video of the Fantasy leaving the Meyer-Werft? It's just breathtaking to see that huge ship glide along the river!

We really loved our gift from Stefy and Dave - and had it up for all three cruises! :goodvibes

It was a magical sight to watch, we were very impressed with how the ship looked, wow it was huge!

Your dining experiences are sounding very positive so far and I'am loving seeing your FE gifts :thumbsup2

The ship is beautiful and the view of Nassau is a nice one too!
Christine, I might have said that before, once you get on board you never even think about being on a ship. It cruises so smoothly and there is so much to do and see, you never get bored.:thumbsup2
(And I think that those captains on the Disney ships would not pull such a stupid stunt as the Costa captain did! :sad2:)

Entertainment on board is just awesome - the shows are so wonderful, I think they could run on Broadway! :thumbsup2

And, if you still are not convinced of cruising you are always welcome to "cruise along" on my trip report! :goodvibes

You sure do make a girl want to go on a cruise! :goodvibes

Please, go for it! Cruising with Disney is so much fun. I never imagined it to be, but we fell for it, hook, line and sinker! :cloud9:

Yum, I could go for some of that dessert right now....Diet is not going good for me. LOL

I think Tom had the souffle several times during the cruise and there was always some yummy dessert I wanted to try!
Guess ...... diet will be MY middle name when we get back! :rotfl2:

Another great day :goodvibes

i love the sound of the ship tour, I'll look out for that :thumbsup2

Linda, there are several tours and they are all fun. We cannot wait to try some more (old ones and new ones)
And may I suggest trying the Champagne tasting? It was really awesome (even though it was rather pricey!)

We were "shocked" when we saw the DREAM for the first time - she is so much larger than the Wonder. :lmao:
We loved the food on the cruise, very tasty and very well presented! Having the most fun servers helped as well! :lmao:

Karin, I'm having such a hard time keeping up, but I love catching up!

I really think alot of people choose to stay on the ship once they've seen Nassau one time. I would want to spend the day at Atlantis myself - have you tried the conch fritters on any of your trips? Yummy!

OMG! Dinner at RP looks so good - with food that nice there, why even go to Palo!:goodvibes

Rosie - do you have a link to post? I'm not good at keeping up, but I like to check in on you here and there!

Bring it on :rotfl:

Loved all the pix Karin and the food looks devine !!

Thank you, Rosie! Hope that you'll get your cruise asignment soon, so you can try for yourself soon! :thumbsup2

Tammie, I know how hard it can be to keep up with threads! I am actually dreading having to catch up when we return from our next trip! ;) :lmao:

We did two Nassau excursions with Disney and every time I asked myself what had posessed me to book them! :rotfl2: Now, we just walk into Nassau, stock up on drinks and snacks (rum and rum cake! :lmao:), take a few photos of the ship and back we are.
I wasn't impressed with the Atlantis either. We did the aquarium and it was nice, but the constant in and out did me in and in the end all I wanted to do was go back to the ship. ;)

We haven't tried the conch fritters in Nassau, but had them several times in Key West.

We enjoyed all our dining experiences - and we love Palo, so we usually skip Pirate night dinner, as this is our least favourite.
Can't wait to try Remy in 3 weeks! :thumbsup2

Champagne tasting?
Bring it on :rotfl:

It was so awesome, Linda!
You are going to LOVE it .......... and there is a Martini tasting, a Wine tasting, a Whisky tasting, a Tequila tasting as well and I am sure I missed something! :rotfl2:

Day 11, August 23

Finally back to Heaven on Earth - Part 1

Today was a day to get up early. When we walked out on the balcony we were nearly at Castaway Cay.

IMG_1311.jpg

We watched the ship dock for a while,

DSC_0895.jpg

then went to have a shower and get breakfast. Usually we get a room service breakfast, but since we were only one deck down from Cabanas we wanted to try breakfast there.
So we headed upstairs and there was already a long line.
But it moved fast and we got inside. We got in line, picked up a few breakfast foods,

IMG_1265-1.jpg

IMG_1270.jpg

scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, Mickey waffles, Eggs Benedict, a grilled tomato and then some more and found a table to sit down and enjoy.
Tom went and got some drinks while I took photos of our food and then it was time to tuck in. There is one thing I really don't like about buffets. Once you get to the table the food is just lukewarm. And Cabanas was no exception. Nevertheless we ate as much as we could and then hurried back to our stateroom to get ready for our Heaven on Earth, Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay.
We got into our swimsuits, donned some cover ups and grabbed our previously packed beach bags and off we went. We disembarked and picked up a towel and headed towards the tram.

IMG_1272.jpg

IMG_1273.jpg

DSCF1094.jpg

One was just pulling in and we got on and went to the first stop where we had to change trams.
We got off and decided to have a look at the shops nearby. We walked down to the Family Beach which was still deserted, but then we hurried back to the tram to ride to Serenity Bay.
There were just a few people on board when the tram left and most of them went for an outdoor activity, so we headed over to the beach area.

IMG_1275-1.jpg

We found two lounge chairs under an umbrella and dropped all our belongings in between the chairs, put on a second layer of sunscreen and waited for a few minutes for it to dry and then off we went to test the water.

DSCF1127.jpg

It was wonderful, crystal clean and warm, but we had to walk out pretty far to hit "deeper" water, as in up to your waist.

To be continued ..........

Lovng the CC pictures. We are actually having a warm day here (in the 50's) and it is making me long for spring

We are having an arctic cold spell here - I mean it is seriously cold and I cannot wait for some warm weather. Spring can't come soon enough! :thumbsup2

I hear you. I know that that we are stillgonna get hit with some awful weather. we still have all of Feb and part of March to get it....we've been lucky, but it can't last all winter.

How odd the weather is this year. Today (in mid-Michigan) it was in the mid-50s. Generally, at this time of year we are lucky if we get up to 20 degrees. I have to say, I am enjoying our "warm" winter. But as jenseib said, we still have a couple of winter months when anything can happen.

That doesn't sound like any fun at all! :headache: We've had an exceptionally mild winter this year...still not warm, really, but it was over 50 here today. But you'll be basking in the warmth soon enough.

Castaway Cay really does look like heaven!
