Planning a short trip as soon as kids finish school. Should i arrive on Memorial day or wait until the first week in June? How bad are memorial day crowds? Do those crowds linger into the week or is it just for the long weekend? TIA, any input or past experiences appreciated.

I have never been during that time of year but my best guess would be a lot of schools are still in session until the beginning or mid June. I would imagine crowds would be lower after Memorial day itself with that being said a lot of people have said the first week in June is a good time to go as to where the summer crowds don't usually hit until mid June.
Sorry I couldn't be of any help. I hope someone with past experiences respond to your post. I know it can be upsetting and frustrating trying to get advice and no one responds.
No matter when you decide to go I hope you have a wonderful trip!

We did Memorial Week last year and it was great. A lot of schools are still in session so it’s not packed to the gills. I actually have a photo of us walking from YC to EPCOT and there was not a soul around. That’s not saying the parks were empty (they weren’t) but it was definitely not a high time.

We have traveled both those 2 weeks the past two years. (14 day trips)

Memorial Day at MK was like our past Sept trips. Wonderful! Got soooo much done. (I think Epcot is hot spot on Memorial Day???)

The other days seem like typical summer days. Moderately busy but very manageable. I cannot say I saw a difference in the two weeks other than you will see a few more groups of field trips the week of Memorial Day. This was true this past year, but I think school was extended due to the hurricane and they filled the extra days with outings (SeaWorld had more field trips...but did see high schoolers at DHS).

Gay Days sees a slight bump in crowds the first Thurs-Sun after Memorial Day, but I think they have moved those plans to August for 2019.

So....of those two weeks....not really a huge difference between the two, but I would probably go with the first full week of June.

That being said, FWIW, I think July was the “sweet spot” for crowds this summer....and you get a few more later park hours and longer waterpark hours than you get in early June. But it is hotter in July.

We went this past June during the 1st 2 weeks because in our past trips it was incredible. This time according the apps our best park day was a level 7. It is possible that we were the victims of people booking thinking that Toy Story Land was going to be open. Thankfully for me our next trip will not be until 2021 and my daughter will be in college (a lot easier to book during the 1st 2 weeks in Feb) and my god daughter will be turning 12 and her school is very understanding when it comes to Disney trips.

Next June will be my 3rd trip going the first week of June and while it is busier than our March/April trips, it is very manageable. I prefer that time as it is warm, but not too hot and longer park hours.

I would think on any Holiday weekend, the parks would be busier.
MY vote would be the first week of June. Many schools are still in session and parents are less likely to take the kids out of school at the end of the school year.

This past Memorial Day weekend had low crowds in my opinion. But the threat of a tropical storm system (Alberto) probably altered plans and kept locals away.

I hope the first week in June is a good time! We are booked for June 4 - 11 next year. I've only been in December, February and September, so it will be fun to see what June is like. Also my Disney loving DD will be turning 15 on the trip and it has always been her dream to celebrate her birthday at Disney.

I would do Memorial Week if I had the chance. The private schools in our area get out the first week of June here, and the public schools get out the second week (they go back to school in September, after Labor Day).
