Memorial Week Cruise May 24-29, 2009

Well looky there...that's a whole lot of smileys!

There IS a map of Castaway Cay  I have a copy of it. :cool1: PM me with your email address and I'll email it to you :wizard: I don't know how to post pics here :sad2: and it might be too big to post on the boards :upsidedow .

 Just my opinion here...but if lime green is the color that's used for other meets...it might be getting popular for being the meet and greet color of choice...and someone said, twice now, I think, that lime green isn't their color. There are some other bold colors out there :rainbow: hot pink (assuming we're all women here), flaming yellow, peacock blue, bright orange...and if we can't decide there's always the infamous tie die :hippie: Or we can each go to Home Depot and get a lime green Mickey chip and put our Dis name on it (Louisiannagal, that might be difficult for you) and display it on a hat/visor or on the upper part of a shirt...

:sail: Isn't this smiley a hoot! I have no idea how to fit it in, so I'm putting it here!

G-Ma[/B]: My parents and I went to Coral Reef quite a few years ago. Can't say we were terribly impressed. It's slightly creepy to be watching fish and eating fish at the same time. You can see the tanks just as well from in The Sea. We had a horribly long wait (w/ ADRs), they brought out the wrong food, and then what they did bring our was cold and not very good. Maybe it was just an off day? And it was quite a few years back.

TwoKats: You can get a little "paint chip" Mickey's head from Home Depot (free color sample in the shape of Mickey's head) in lime green. For marathon meets we all have alert shirts in lime green! Hard to miss spotting your Disboards team members that way!!! :scared1:

Tina: Welcome! The smiles are available if you click the "Post Reply" button at the top or bottom left of the thread or if you click "Go advanced". It gives you a basic set or you can click "More" in the bottom left to open a new window with lots of smilies, including Disney smilies! :goofy: :stitch2: :mickeyjum

Anyone know if there's a map of Castaway Cay anywhere?

Or when the ship arrives at CC?

We have a Home Depot in our area and I know all about the paint chips because both of my children's rooms are totally done in Disney colors. I just have a problem with green anything. I used to work at a company that the building was green, my desk had a green top, part of the products were green. . . you get where I am going? I have a few capri outfits that have green leaves on them and that is alot for me!! Also when I was in Girl Scouts and had that green outfit, I always felt it was not one of my better colors. I am the same way about orange - don't know why on that one. I can do peach, but not orange.:scared1:

Also, as I said before our experience at Coral Reef was good. We were there for the first time on our 2007 trip. We did not have to wait very long for our ADR's and I thought it was interesting to watch the fish swim around. We enjoyed our meal and had no problems with the order at all. As I remember our server was very nice also. We did go for a late lunch and not dinner. I like the lunch menu prices a lot better, plus I divide out some places for lunch and others for dinner. Go online and check out the menus for where you want to dine and see if there are differences (and there usually are!) ;)

This website http://www.fortunecity.com/campus/brigham/612/ccmap.htm has a good map of CC. I have seen others, but I was looking for an easy one to find right now. :goodvibes

The smilies show up beside my message box whenever I reply. I can't remember when I started getting them, but I guess when they show up you have enough posts to use them. :yay:

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. We had another coldfront come through yesterday, so we are back in the 50 - 60's for a couple of days. We had an 80 degree day Thursday. It was great. Our trees are already budding out. I am afraid they are going to get nipped with the temperature changes. But that usually happens around here with the warm, cold, warm . . etc. :thumbsup2

Hey Louisiannagal...the map that TwoKats gives a link to is the same map I have.

Oh, poor Kathy! (LOL) It's 80 on a nice day and 50 on a cold day!?! I'd LOVE to see a 50 degree day around here!:sunny: It was 8 degrees a few mornings ago, we did get up to 40, now back to 20... see why we can't wait for this cruise!!!:hourglass
Claire- I added you to the FE list, we're on our way now! :surfweb: The map a CC that I saw was on the DIS, there's a thread called DCL picture of the day, and somewhere on there was a picture of the island map, not sure which page, and it was a long thread so it may be easier to find elsewhere!
:dancer: Tina- glad to see you found the smileys! They're so fun! :dance3:

party: As for our Dis meet I was thinking sometime on the first day after lunch, before the sail away party (not sure what time that would be or if that gives everyone enough time to get on and get situated). We could meet after dinner if everyone's not too tired. Maybe in one of the lounges??? Any suggestions? :earsboy:

Yes, I will admit that Texans in my area are pretty spoiled!!! :goodvibes
But you have to understand that it has just been in the last few years that we have had bad ice storms again. We went for and do go for years with just a couple of days that hit freezing. :woohoo:

My Passporter on the DCL says that from 3:45 - 4:30 is pretty well taken with the mandatory drill. After that is when it seems like the sailaway deck party is and then there are some of ya'll that have the first dinner seating and a couple of us have the later dinner seating. We are hoping to get on board early, but am not for sure yet. We will be doing a safari at AK first thing Sunday morning and then breakfast before we leave WDW. I am hoping to be on the ship no later than 1:30.:dance3: :cheer2: :yay: Yes, I am counting the days also!!!:dance3: :dance3:

Hi Hillfam!

Hey, check out this thread: The DIS Discussion Forums - DISboards.com > Just for Fun > Creative DISigns
Natalie's t-shirt designs

pg 85, post #1273 has a great graphic for a t-shirt...or if you're making magnets for your door...

Hey group!

Well, after about a month of the cruise being on-again, off-again, on-again - it looks like we've finally done it! Paid it off today, just in the nick of time to get under the wire for 75 days! So, the Dunn family will be cruising with all of you!!! Looks like we have a great group on this ship!!! Yippee!!! It will be my second cruise (first was when I was 15) and my husband and kids first cruise ever. Our family is Leslie Ann (me, age 40), DH (Jason - age 35), DS - 7 and DD - 5.

Our cabin will be midship on Deck 6, right above the kids club. Lets hope the kids want to go there from time to time! :)

I look forward to getting to know you guys!!! :) :) :)

:welcome: Leslie Ann!!

Great to have you with us. As you can tell we have been trying to make some decisions on the FE and a meeting on the first day. Please insert your comments as we finalize our plans. :thumbsup2

Which room number did they give you? I am also midship Deck 6.

If you get a chance go back up to posts #72, 73, 75, 77, 89, & 103 for our get to know you questionnaire.:flower3:

This is a link to my photo bucket. In it you will see some magnets that I have created. You can also browse through all my clipart and pictures and use what ever you like for your magnets. All you do for your magnets is choose a picture, type on it whatever you like (You don't have to put anything on it) and print it on magnet paper that you can buy at walmart, target, hobby lobby, exc. I've never cruised before so this was new to me as well but I talked to a few people on here and figured out how to do it. Let me know if you need more help. I can email you whatever you need.

Those are some :cool1: pics in your photobucket...very colorful :rainbow: May I use the day at sea and the safari/adventure ones? I have photoshop...don't know how to use it yet...but this will be a good excuse to learn!!!:rolleyes1

I still don't have a room number.

How long did it take y'all to get assigned?

Tina

I got my room number when I made my reservation.
Mine was done with DVC points, so mine was considered paid for right then. I don't know how it is done otherwise.:confused3

My suggestion is to call DCL and see what they tell you about when you will get your room number. Certainly won't hurt anything and it might get you closer to knowing your room #!!:)

Hey Guys, I am writing to say goodbye because we moved our res to the 7 nite on May 23rd. That's right- we are going to Tortola!!! :woohoo: After shopping for our 3 extra days at WDW, turns out is was cheaper just to be on the ship. We've got adjoining inside cabins so no window, boo hoo.:sad1: But I always say, a bad day on the DCL beats a good day stuck on land!

BTW, imho I would plan to do your DIS meet at the sail away party. There is a big balcony overlooking the stage from deck 9 that would be the perfect spot! :thumbsup2 Have a great Cruise! Leigh

party: Hello Dunn Family!:welcome:
:cheer2: Glad to have you with us!:cool1:

Leslie Ann, I have Ds' 8 & 7, and a dd3 (my neice 5 will also be there) the kids will get to know eachother and I'm definitly planning to send them to the kids clubs! :dance3:

And, as Twokats said check out our get to know eachother questionaires and our roster and let us know if you plan to participate in FEs!!

:sad1: So sad to see Churchlady go... so we gained one & lost one

 How does everyone feel about meeting just before the sail away party in a certain spot where they're having the party? Then we'll just stay right there for the party. That could work for me.:thumbsup2

:dance3: Sound good to me!!!:yay:

Wow, you guys have been busy since I've last been on here. :rotfl: Had to read two pages to catch up. ;)

:welcome: Leslie Ann and family, glad to have you onboard!

Churchlady, you'll be missed but Tortola and you're longer trip should be lovely. Enjoy!!! :)

As for the meet and FE, I vote to meet before or should I saw AT the sail away party. I think this will be a busy time on the ship with the drill and all. I've read after the drill you need to RUN to the sail away party to get a good spot. I say, if it's possible as many of us that can meet there. I'd like to be down (not on balcony) near the action. Who's up for meeting there??? Also, let's go simple. Something like a lime green mickey paint chip taped or pinned somehow to our shirt. Also, I 'm willing to wear something silly like a lime green shirt or wave a lime green flag and the group could just look for that to meet up. For those who don't find us for whatever reason, we could also have a second meet planned for that evening in the bars :dancer: or for coffe in the morn. Let me know what you guys think.

For the FE, I think each person needs to recieve something age approp. So far we have someone for each day so the kids ( and us kids young at heart) will find a lil suprise each evening. Sounds fun! :cool1:

Take care all, princess:

Would love to participate in the FE thing - I've been looking at them on eBay and can't decide whether to spend $30 on a personalized one, or just get a cheaper one. Decisions, decisions!!!:confused3

:mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum Disney Trivia...

Did you know, before WDW opened it had another name...what was it? Think, it's kind of a trick question. (clock ticking...) :rotfl:

Why the answer of course is...(drum roll), Disney world! Before Walts death the idea was to show a greater size and depth from Disney land. However, after Walts death, that changed.

Roy Disney said, "everybody knows the ford car but not everybody knows it was Henry Ford who started it all. It's going to be WALT DISNEY WORLD, so pepole will always know that this was Walt's dream".

Ready for another one???::MinnieMo

We know that WDW opened Oct. 1, 1971, but when did construction begin???
( can you hear me humming the music from Jeopardy ?)
Ans: Oct. 1965 with the clearing of 300 acres!

Last one, :donald: :donald: :donald:

On opening day, there were 800 hundred employees, (cast members). Disney officials anticipated 100,000 guests. How many came through the gates???

(think think think or maybe I should say tink tink tink, lol)

Ans: only 10,000. The media called the Florida venture a failure. Disney called it a blessing, saying it gave their cast members the chance to get things in proper order.

Whad' ya'll think? failure or blessing???

Thanks Walt! You've made a "happy place" where we all can go for a while and be a kid again! :cool1:
