Memorial Week Cruise May 24-29, 2009

:thumbsup2:Thanks, g-ma, that was fun...and you've inspired this:

Today is March 3rd. Did you know:

March 3, 1995 The Indiana Jones ride opened in Disneyland.:earsboy:

AND...The Lion King became the highest selling home video of all time...it beat the record which was set by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the previous year. :simba:

Now to business...

Did we decide to put something in the FE for each guest in a room? If we did, then I'd like to request names, ages of the kids, and favorite Disney character. :smickey:

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the welcome. We are very excited about this trip. I wish it was sooner.:wizard:

:cool1: Nice siggy & ticker Colleen!:cheer2:

:surfweb: Tina, I haven't been hearing a direct response to that question. But that's my suggestion, so:
The Warren's are: Me (Kelly) fav charachter? I love them all... maybe :tinker: tink (:rotfl2: LOL, I think i said the same thing on or questionaire) DH (Jim) Favs- :darth: Star Wars, pirate: Pirates of the Caribean, Indian Jones, Grumpy, The Incredibles. DS' 8 (Jimmy) & 7 (Joey) favs- :yoda: Star wars, pirate: Pirates of the Caribean, Indian Jones, nemo, incredibles, cars... anything boyish! DD3 (Mary-Elizabeth, but we call her M.E. pronounced "Emmy"- a mouthful, I know- ROTFL:rotfl: ) she LOVES the Princessesprincess: any and all of them! She's got like 10 costumes to wear on our trip!!!

Claire, I finally got Marathoning for Mortals- :worship: great pick! :thumbsup2 I read The Ultimate Marathon guide that was writted like 20 yrs ago, and it was all about hard core marathon running & record breaking times, and 100+ mile training weeks, and I'm thinking "if only I can finish"! :lmao: LOL!:lmao: So, within the first few chapters of this book they have said what I wanted to hear- The Penguin, I love that! And, they're talking about the joy of running in todays world instead of the competiveness of shaving off seconds in the 70s & 80s. :tiptoe: Thanks for the suggestion!

I also agree that we need names and ages. The Thomas' are...Me (Colleen) I would have to say ::MinnieMo Minnie Mouse or any of the pooh: :eeyore: :tigger: Pooh characters. DH (Will) I'm not really sure that he has a favorite... DD7 (Katie) She loves Hannah Montana, Highschool Musical and Camp Rock. She also likes the princess: Princesses. DS4 (Brandon) and DS2 (David) They like :mickeyjum Mickey, Cars and Nemo. They pretty much like anything boyish.

If anyone is interested I have a bunch of disney clipart and pictures that I've collected in the past 6 months. Just send me your email address and I'll send them to you. I have a bunch in my photo bucket on the web if anyone wants that address. :artist:

Hi Jennifer,

I would REALLLLLLY be interested in your clipart. I've seen a lot of really cool door magnets on the boards, but most have writing on them and I don't know how to remove it...so whatever you're willing to share, I'm willing to take a peek at and see if my creativity gets inspired.

BTW: where do y'all get your magnet paper from (if you're using the paper). I've read several people get it at Wal-Mart...I've checked 2 of them here and can't find any...if you got yours in Wal-Mart, where in the store did you find it?

I don't have my clipart in my photobucket, but I have collected over 7000 backgrounds and clipart related to disney. If there is a certain thing you are looking for, let me know and I probably have it. :surfweb:

If you have an office supply store in your area check there for the magnet paper. I have seen it and got it at Walmart (in the stationery area with label paper and pens etc), but I don't know if it is a common stock item at all stores. We have a Staples (office supply store) in our town and I think I have seen the magnet paper there. There was a thread once on either the DCL or Creative or both about where a lot of people get their magnet paper. You could probably do a search and find where online some others have gotten their paper at. :) I have a zyron machine which laminates and has a magnet backing. It is older and I don't know if they sell them anymore. I got it at my local Michaels.:woohoo:

Thanks Kat!:thumbsup2

:wave2: We were told is was o.k. to just use matte paper for pics and then use self stick magnets. It is cheaper. Have made many here and it seems to work fine.

Isn't it fun putting the magnets together? :cool1:

Kinda blue today, one of my daughters and her 2 children, (not on here) may not be joining us for the cruise/trip. My son is also on the fence. :( We'll see how things go by sat. It sure is hard to plan a family vacation with adult children. You don't get to tell them...get in the car, we're going. Lol. :confused3

That's probably what I'll end up doing...

I tried 3 Wal-Marts in the past 2 days and no magnet paper...then went to Hobby Lobby today. HL did have it, but it was $10 for 3 sheets. That's outside of my budget.

I did, also see some lime green flowers in the scrapbooking section. They were 3 or 4 to a pack and they come in 3 pieces. The large back of the flower, the small center of the flower and then a paper clip (of sorts...looks like a button with 2 metal tails that you poke through the paper then spread them out to make it hold). Would y'all be interested in getting something like that and put it on a visor to indicate who we are? If y'all don't have a Hobby Lobby close by, I can buy a few packs...I think they were $2.99 and send a flower to everyone to use.

Whatcha think?

Hope your other kids can make it g-ma...it's always not quite a family vacation when someone's missing. You spend a lot of time thinking about them and wishing they were there.

Yes, it can be pricey. I had to use some one year for a church project, but I was doing bookmark size things and not full page magnets, so it went further. It was easy to work with and went thru the printer great. The strip magnets or even the sheet magnets cut in strips would work. The sheet is a little thinner than the strips so might be easier to work with. I have not worked with either very much, although I have all of it in stock here for me to use if needed.

We're celbrating my older son's graduation from high school and my younger son's promotion to high school...not quite sure what to do for number 2 yet, but I'm looking for graduation themed stuff for the first. Do you have anything like that?

Right now I have found two mickey heads with caps. I know I've got more, but it takes a while to locate. :thumbsup2

For your other son, I have a lot of Mickey heads that have one character by it. Does he have a favorite? :confused3

His favorite is Jack Skellington and his dog, Zero and he likes Prince Edward because he thinks the prince is hillarious, :lmao: "Thank you for taking care of my bride peasants" and "peasants I have set you free". Evidently my youngest thinks chivalry is a hoot! :happytv: He also likes the ever popular, ever cool, Jack Sparrow.pirate: and The Jedi Master :yoda:

Thanks by the way for the graduate Mickeys...I'm going to try to turn the cap red in photoshop...it's one of their school colors and the color of their caps and gowns...send lots of pixie dust!

The graduation Mickey hat looks perfect! :thumbsup2 I couldn't do it. Had alot of people on here make things for us. Thank God for the designers! :yay:

Thanks g-ma and twokats...I'm just learning photoshop...it would be better if I could take a class and someone just tell me how it works, but that's not going to happen so I just truck along and hit the "undo" button an awful lot!

March 7th

On this day in 1997

Disney's Jungle 2 Jungle opens in theaters...

it just hasn't been a very exciting day in Disney history...it's Michael Eisner's birthday....but most Disney fans don't want to remember that. :rolleyes1

78 days and counting!
Who's booking excursions on Tuesday?
Which one's are you booking?

I think y'all have to set your clocks ahead tonight...we don't do that in AZ...but I remember doing it when I didn't live here...losing that hour can make you very tired and give you good reason for a Sunday nap!

Hi Group

Although I have been on a cruise before as a teenager (I am now 40) my DH (35) and DS (7) and DD (5) have never cruised before. DH has never been on an island.... I have read that Nassau is not a favorite port to many, however since this is our first time I am thinking that we will try to go for an excursion.

I love going to nice hotels, the family loves aquariums and I am interested in seeing the beach, so I'm looking at two different Atlantis excursions - one is "Discover Atlantis" and the other one is "Atlantis Beach Day."

Due to the cost and the age/adventure level of our kids, I'm not really interested in the Aquaventure. I have looked into doing the Comfort Inn thing - and I'm not sure about doing that. As this is our first cruise, and first time doing this, I am thinking we want to do a Disney-sponsored excursion.

So - this leads me to the Discover Atlantis and Atlantis Beach Day. I have read from some who did Discover Atlantis that they thought that they were trying to "sell" the resort for a later trip. My question, is can we go to the beach for a little bit if we do Discover Atlantis? Do they have an arm band for the beach, and do they check?

Does the Atlantis Beach Day excursion have a tour of Atlantis, like the Discover Atlantis tour, or is it self-guided? The Atlantis Beach excursion is more, but it also includes lunch - are there any other differences?

My thoughts were to get off the ship early, head to Atlantis, look around at the aquarium and hotel grounds, go see the beach for a little bit (not all day) and then head back to the ship for a late lunch and to swim, etc. Could we do all this on "discover Atlantis" or would it be best to do the "Atlantis Beach Day?"

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/opinions!!!

Leslie Ann,

We are planning almost the same thing. I forget which is which and have to read up on them again. But, the plan is basically to do Atlantis since we have never been there. (I do read ALOT that most pepole wish they would quit going to this island). Doing something on our own doesn't sound real safe.

It will be my son's B-day that day. He wants to do the casino. I want to stay with Disney as we've read alot of negatives. The one we're choosing, although I forget the name is $79.00 an adult. It'll give us bus ride, aquarium, grounds, beach tag, and a light lunch. We also figure we'll be back on board a little earlier. I hear you don't need the full day.

So, maybe we'll see you on this excursion-----M

Yes - I think we will be on the same excursion!!! I just wasn't sure about whether it was worth it to pay extra $$ to be able to go to the beach. I would hate to go all the way over there and try to walk out on the beach for like a half hour just to be told we couldn't go out. Anyway, since it's our first time I guess we should go ahead and do it!!! If we do this cruise again in the future, we can always stay on the boat...

In surfing the net for this issue, I found someone's pictures of Atlantis and the hotel and grounds really look incredible!
