We want to do Star Wars weekend at Hollywood Studios this may, and the best hotel rate is Memorial Day weekend. Is it total Mayhem at HS? Thanks...

I'm wondering too. Everything I read is HS is very, very crowded and that Friday and Sunday are the better days for lower, but not low crowds. We will be there a few days before the weekend so plan to do rides and the Star Wars character dining on those days.

I'm more interested in how to roll with the crowd on Star Wars Weekend, then to avoid it!

I've never done SWW during it, but honestly I don't think Memorial Weekend is that busy. It may be a little busier than a normal weekend but not too much. Plus I'm thinking that the busiest SWW will be the one in June with Mark Hamil. I think some of the local crowd will wait for that one.

We've been to SWW during Memorial Day weekend for the last 5 years. It's crowded but not that bad. The wait on Star Tours gets up to 60 mins at its height. You should have no problem getting in to any of the Star Wars events, but get there early if you want a good seat. If you want to watch the motorcade, find a place more than an hour before. But this is all good advice for any SWW, not just Memorial Day weekend. I think if you go, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the crowds.

Last year we arrived the Sunday before Memorial Day. We did Epcot on Sunday and Monday. It was pretty packed, but manageable.

On Tuesday we went to MK at RD and got a whole lot done before the crowds piled in. The afternoon at MK was plain crazy. Lots and lots of people. The most crowded day of any of the days we were there.

On Thursday, we did AK, which happened to be the designated park for Gay Days. I do not know if that scared a lot of people off, but it was our best and least crowded day in any of the parks. Rode EE multiple times and pretty much rode and saw everything else we wanted to see before 2pm.

On Friday my son and I were up early to be at HS when it opened bright and early for Star Wars Weekends. Once again this was the designated park for Gay Days. Reading he thread for Star Wars weekends after the fact, it seemed that most felt that was the least crowded SWW dates up to that point. We probably rode Star Tours three times in a row within the first 30 minutes of being in the park. We did all the other Star Wars stuff and had a great day.

So, it will be slightly crowded that week, but I think it is manageable. If you do rope drop any day, I would do it for the MK and HS days for sure.

4 years ago we were at Disney World over Memorial Weekend. All the parks were crowded and DHS was insane because of SWW. It was nothing to have hour long standby waits for everything SWW related. But we just went with the flow and still had fun.

The rest of the week after was quieter though.

We'll be going again this year and I'm planning on the crowds being there again. And this time the teenagers don't want to get out of bed. It's going to be an interesting trip!

We did Star Wars Weekend last year on Saturday before Memorial Day and it was more crowded in the afternoon. They even closed down the parking lots, so we had to drive back to our resort and ride the bus back to the park.

This year we decided to wait and go to Hollywood Studios on a weekday since we aren't Star Wars fans. But, I think for Stars Wars fans, SWW is a must do!!

My dd5 and I did SWW last Memorial Day. I'm not going to say it wasn't crowded, but we didn't find it at all unbearable. We went on Saturday and did everything we wanted and had a fabulous time!!! We're doing it again this year and bringing my DH! If you can, book a character meal...that will save some time waiting on line for those characters that you can use for other things. Have fun!!

I am so glad you pointed that out. We arrive on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend until the following Monday. We already know that the weekend will be hectic between SWW at DHS and the 24 hour event at MK so we are going to just head to Epcot on our arrival day and then on Saturday we will be at Typhoon Lagoon and Sunday will be spent at DTD and DisneyQuest. We are planning on going to DHS on Memorial Day Monday though, and I was wondering how the crowds were once the weekend was over since the schools are pretty much still in session. For those that have gone to DHS, or any park on Memorial Day Monday, how were the crowds?

We did Memorial Wknd last year. It was busy but we did not really have a problem. We do go for rope drop and then leave at lunch or shortly after. Afternoons tend to have the long lines even with FP. It is doable but take the afternooon for a a resort nap or swim.
