Memorial Day weekend-how crowded?

We went Memorial Day weekend 2004. Before that I had only been in March and April and I'd say 45 minutes was the longest we waited in line on those trips. Memorial Day weekend was a horse of a different color. We waited in line for Splash Mountain for 1 hour and 45 minutes. We couldn't do the fast pass because the return time was for like 4-5 hours later. However, I must say that since then I have learned a lot from tourguide mike and found out what we were doing wrong. I strongly suggest signing up for tourguide mike. He has alot of great tips for how to see and do it all, even on busy days.

VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY Crowded! USE FAST PASS!!! :thumbsup2

Yes, you must you all the fast passes you can. But you must get them early, because later in the day you will have the problem I had and the return time will be hours away. Also, it was pretty hot that weekend and all the carts were out of water. Be prepared and have lots of water.

According to touringplans.com all of our park days are listed at 7's so that doesn't sound too bad. I hope ya'll are right Len.

We will be ther the same week, May 27 - June 3. Will it be better to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to do the parks???

Kicking off my vaca on may 29 next yr. The Tues AFTER labor day. Only plans for that dat really is CMs for dinner :cool1:

We have been there 3 times for Memorial Day Weekend and we are going back for more this year. Actually, in contrast to the posters above, we have found this to be a great weekend. Saturday, Sun and Monday are on the crowded side, but if you plan well and use FP that should not be a problem. We did not find it as crowded as in July, and also the weather is great in May - not too hot yet.

We decided to extend our vacation over the Memorial Weekend last year. We should have realized how awful this would be when we found absolutely NOTHING available on-site (at ANY price!!) or off (within a 20 minute plus radius). At the very last moment (our car was packed and we were ready to head home), we caught a cancellation at CSR. By noon on Saturday, MK was unbearable. Dh and older ds ventured into Epcot Sunday evening and experienced much the same. On the other hand, the week prior to Memorial Weekend was great! It was more crowded than past years but still a relatively slow time.

We'll be there the 27-2 also! I am a bit nervous. We have always gone the first week of May, but my son is in first grade now. If it is terrible, I guess we'll be going less frequently and pulling them out of school for a few days. I am going to avoid MK until Tuesday hoping that helps. My son will be happy just to see Star Wars characters at MGM!

I just book for may 27th thur june 3rd. I'm begining to regret my decision but oh well dad has already asked off for vacation for that week. My plan was to tour the parks on Sunday and Monday rest on Tuesday and tour Wed and thursday. Let's all pray that a lot of people stay home and have a big old fashion cookout!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

We go Memorial Day week every year. It is busy, but the earlier in the summer the better before Northern schools let out. I find it to be pretty crowded over the Memorial Day weekend, then tapers off some on Tues, Wed and Thursday, then picks back up on Friday. We always have a great time though and do everything we want atleast once! Just be sure to get to each park early on atleast one day and hit all the big rides first thing. It is hot and can rain a good bit this time of year. Last year, we had more rain than I would like, but it does keep the crowds away from the parks. We are booked this year for 5/27 - 6/4 and plan to totally enjoy the week!

Watch out Walt Disney World, here come the white legged Oregonians! We (2 DS and myslelf) arrive Saturday, May 27 and leave on Monday, June 5. I'm sure it will be busier than when we usually visit but I think the extended late hours after the parks close will help cause' when it's midnight their time, it will only be 9:00 pm our time! :rotfl2:

We are staying at POP May 27 & 28, Port Orleans French Quarter 29, 30, 31,1 and 2 and lastly at Animal Kingdom Lodge June 3 & 4. Am I going to regret splitting our 9 nights between 3 resorts? :scratchin

Maybe we will see you at AK Lodge :wave2:

We always begin our 2 week trip on Memorial Day Weekend - just turns out that way, because we HAVE to leave the very day we get out of school!! We go to the parks early and leave by mid-day to hit the pool or some other activity. If you plan on eating at any TS restaurants over the week-end you MUST have ADR's or be prepared to wait for hours to be seated.

I know it will be busy, but not as bad as mid Summer crowds!!

We plan on AK on Monday..Getting there at opening!!!!! :goodvibes

We hope things taper off a bit after the Holiday weekend is over. I have put MK day off till Wednesday. That will be the morning after EMH evening at MK

Just have a plan and you will be ok. We were there the week before last year and it was awesome! I did notice things start too pick up when we left on Friday of Memorial day weekend to go home.

I am looking forward to later park hours this trip. We usually are there in the off season and the parks close so much earlier.

I noticed on another thread that a lot of kids don't even get out of school till mid June...So that will help us out some! :thumbsup2

I personally can not wait!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
