I'm always reading post about funny and moving moments that take place inside the parks and I thought it would be neat to start a thread on memorable rides on resort buses that stick in your memory. Here are a few of mine.
1) Our very first trip to the world at Christmas time, DH and I had put ML and DD to bed at POP and decided to go back to the MK and spend some time alone. On the way back to the resort, after midnight, one of the passengers lead our entire bus in Christmas music. It was very moving, considering this was Christmas Eve and turning into Christmas while we were riding. The funny thing is, I decided to chime in with a few verses of "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" and embarrassingly enough, not one person on that bus knew the words or they were just too embarrassed to chime in. :sad2:

2)The second memorable bus moment was one that my Dad told that happened last year on their way to MNSSHP. The bus broke down in the middle of the busy parkway and they had to be picked up by another bus. If you knew my Dad, you would die laughing because he is so dramatic and over the top. I laugh every time I think about him running late and getting stuck in the middle of traffic on the Disney bus. :rotfl2:

I'm suprised no one knew 'Grandma got ran over by a reindeer'. I'm from St.Louis and we know that one here.

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer is a holiday classic. ;) I'm also surprised that nobody knew it.

But your X-Mas bus ride sounds very sweet. What a great holiday memory! :)

We have had some GREAT bus drivers, and then we have had some not so great. Bus ride moments would have to be when we forgot something at the resort and got to ride an empty bus back to the resort, it was pretty funny!:rotfl2:

We had a memorable moment when we were there in August. We were chatting with a family in front of us at the bus stop and somehow got to talking about reptiles and how much our oldest ds loves catching the lizards at Disney. We boarded the bus and the people we were talking to started to jump up. There was a small tree frog stuck to the window of the bus on the inside. The bus driver wouldn't touch it for anything and left the bus to find a towel. My ds said let me catch the thing and put it outside, so he did. The whole bus clapped for him and the driver looked very relieved!

Oh, this is a great thread - since we've too have had some GREAT drivers.

December 2006: We had to sing Jingle Bells, but she made us substitute the "in a one horse open sleigh" with "on a Disney Transport Bus, Yah!". I still remember it, since the entire bus was in stitches the whole way from MK to CSR.

May 2007: We had a trivia buff for a driver. From the AKL to MK, he had us yell out our names, home towns, and the most insane questions we could think of (within reason, kids on the bus!) - and the driver was almost 100% accurate in his answers. It was unreal...

There are more moments, but I think these are the best in my mind.

May 06 trip, we were the only passengers on the bus. The bus driver let DS (then 7) sit in the driver's seat and gave DS an Honorary Disney Bus Driver License. The look on DS's face was priceless.

My most memorable bus trip was from the MK late one night to the CBR - we were approaching an intersecetion near the Boardwalk when a car in the left lane decidec that he want to be in the lane that the bus was in. Somehow the bus driver managed to avoid an accident by stopping suddenly when the car pulled over on us. There were only a few people on the bus and no one was seriously injured but it only took a few moments for my granddaughter's stroller to travel from the very back of the bus up the isle to the very front of the bus. We look back at it now and jokingly refer to it as "a tragic bus accident". And let me emphasize that NO ONE WAS HURT!! Many thanks to bus driver John!!:woohoo:

Mine would be on the bus with my baby-sister and she was in awe of the sights she saw like when we pulled up to MK and you could see the castle, she was so fascinated it was cool.

On the good side, we rode the bus from MK to POP a few years back and the driver was both funny and informative. He turned it into a sight seeing tour. Told stories all along the way. It really made the ride fun.

On the bad side, we left MK to POP at closing on the same trip two days later and the driver dove like a crazy man! It was packed and the folks standing were falling on others at each turn (on two wheels).

My most memorable bus ride at Disney was in March of 2006. It was one of our last days at WDW (so we were "old hands" by now) and we were on our way back to ASMo from MK at about 10:00 pm. We had made this same trip a few times already, so we kind of knew what to expect. It was a pretty quiet bus, since everyone was pretty tired and it was late. About 10 minutes into the trip, I start looking around and don't recognize anything! I lean over to my DH and ask him (quietly) if he recognizes anything. He didn't either!! Over the next few minutes, the noise level on the bus started getting louder as everyone else started noticing that the trip was taking longer than usual.:chat:

Apparently, the driver (a rookie) had taken a wrong turn somewhere, and got out onto some big highway and it was taking a while to find an off-ramp so he could get himself turned around. Add to this that there was a bunch of construction going on, making it even harder.

Thankfully, after only about 20 minutes extra, we arrived at the ASMo safe and sound. All the passengers cheered to be back "home".  :worship:

In May 1998 which was my families very 1st time staying onsite we were on the bus from Downtown Disney going to the Contemporary, when the bus driver takes the microphone and tells this car "pardon me sir do you have any Grey Poupon"? The whole bus started laughing because we thought it was so funny and un expected.

After a late night at MK we were on a packed, but kinda quiet bus back to ASMu. The music was playing and you could hear it cause everyone was kind of sedate. Garth Brook's "Friends in Low Places" started playing - by the time the song was over just about that whole bus was singing.

A few years back we had an absolute nut for a bus driver from DTD back to AKL. He did a comedy routine the entire time...lots of humorous one liners and he kept saying "Maaaahhhvelooouuusss" (marvelous) in this long drawn out dramatic & formal kind of way. My stomach hurt by the time we got back to the resort from laughing so much.

Doesn't seem funny as I type this but I guess you had to be there. Anyone else ever encounter this guy?...he was middle aged, salt & pepper hair, and drove like a maniac.

Fourth of July, 2007: returning to POP after the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Do you think it was crowded?!!? We actually WAITED on Main Street for over an hour, hoping the crowds would thin, before heading to the bus stop.

As we approached the stop, a POP bus was just leaving. There were about 20 people that didn't make it onto that bus, and us (and more behind us). Another bus pulls in, its sign unlit. We all held our breath, and then - -thunderous applause and cheers as the POP CENTURY sign lit up!

As the bus came to a stop, the bus driver raised his arms above his head triumphantly - - it was HYSTERICAL!

His name was Seann. He was so much fun. We sang songs, and he gave us Disney trivia quizzes.

Mine was a very sweet little girls moment. I have two DDs and as an only child have no idea why they argue so much. We stayed at MK very late one night and there were very few bus seats but someone gave one for the girls. My older one sat down and pulled the little one into her lap. They both fell sound asleep but as the bus made it various turns I could see my older DD tighten her grip on the little one (they were 6 and 4) to keep her from falling down. A very sweet, totally special moment for me.

On my last trip to the world we just boarded the bus at CSR and it was starting to leave when he stopped. He was looking into his mirror and chuckling. We all turned around and there running for the bus was this family.
But all eyes was on the tiny little green fairy with her little feet pumping as fast as she could and her little wings flapping in the breeze. She could not have been more than 5. They finally got to the bus and the mother apologized for the delay. The littlest fairy just piped in "I was flying as fast as I could":tinker: Eveyone just broke out in laughter. I will never forget that sweet little face stating just a true fact.:cutie:

You guys have heard that they are replacing the bus drivers speils with recordings, right?

I'm not a fan of that. It's stories like these that should remind Disney that guests on buses are people too....

On our 2001 trip to Disney we were on the bus with an adorable little boy who kept yelling "FASTER, FASTER" the whole bus trip. But with his little-boy voice it came out more like "Fastah! Fastah!" His mom said he thought everything at Disney was a ride, including the bus trips to the park. :)

On my last trip we were coming from DTD to ASMu. And the bus driver stopped at a red light opened the dor and started yelling at the driver next to us. We had no clue what was going on. The we heard him yell "You wanna race' and when the light turned green he speed off. We had no clue what just happened. But I was laughing the whole way back.

Another bus ride from MK back to ASMu (same trip) I lost my contact. We were all searching for it and a bunch of people were helping. We had our cell phione lights and ipodlights out. it was too funny. We eventually found it on my knee.
