Members's cruise

Hey all, I know what you mean about the other thread. My head was spinning over there.

My DW and I will be sailing on our first member cruise and we can't wait. This will be our third DCL cruise but first for the Dream. It will also be our first vacation in 26 years sans the kiddo's. Now, don't get me wrong love having the kids along, but I think it's okay to have a little R&R with my DW alone. :lovestruc We will also be celebrating our 26th anniversary while on the dream. Oh did I say I can't wait :rotfl:

We will be down to the World 3 days before the cruise and plan on going to MNSSHP. First time for that as well. Have a lot of first for this trip....:cool1::thumbsup2

I did recieve the DME documents for our airport pick up to get us to VWL on the day we arrive. So, I am hoping the cruise docs will be coming shortly.:banana:

Only bummer I have had so far was I have not been able to get PALO ressies. Was so looking forward to that. Hoping there will be some openings once we are on board...

Oh did I say I was excited:rotfl2:

Hey, I got this link here on the DIS a month or so ago. Thought I would re-post it here. It is a great view of the Disney Dream and other ships in port. When the ships leave, they pan the camera to follow them out. Being a HD camera, the pictures are great. We have instructed our kids to watch for us and we will wave to them as we leave...smjj

Very nice link, anyone know what time the Dream pulls out today. It's 5:05 PM and it still docked. :dance3:

Hi Luvdisney! <waves> Its nice to meet you. :) How wonderful to celebrate your 26th anniversary on the cruise - hopefully we'll get to meet you and wish you congratulations in person. I'll cross my fingers for you to get a Palo reservation once you board - that woudl be a great way to have a special anniversary dinner.

Make sure you catch the Boo To You parade when you go to MNSSHP - it is my very favorite Magic Kingdom parade. Also, don't be afraid to do the trick-or-treating during the party - thats a big part of the fun.

Thank you and glad to meet you too. :goodvibes Thanks for the tips. DW and I were just talking about costumes for the party. Haven't decided yet on what we should go as? Where is the best place to stand to take in the Parade? Does the Parade take the same route as the daily parade?

Well, if you want to be efficient, I'd suggest dressing as Pirates so you can recycle your MNSSHP costumes for Pirates IN the Caribbean night (and International Talk Like a Pirate Day) on the cruise. pirate: That will take up less space in your luggage which will be especially beneficial if you are flying.

The parade begins in Frontierland and ends on Main Street USA. As far as a good spot, really anywere along the route where there aren't a bunch of tall people in front of you should be fine. I do recommend hitting the 2nd parade performance as crowds tend to be smaller.

Hi smjj!

The Member Cruise threads on the meets boards are challenging, aren't they? There are lots of great people having fun there but sometimes it can be really difficult to sort through everything and find the information/answers you are looking for. I swear those have to be the fastest moving threads on the history of the DISBoards. :)

This will be my second time on the Dream and my first member cruise. I'm super excited that we're finally getting close! I just found a great cocktail dress for dinner at Palo - now I just need some great shoes to go with it. :rotfl:

I hope to run into you at some point on board the ship! Happy planning and DREAMing!

That is why that thread is covering more ground than just the SSMC. The posters decided early on to try and break the DIS thread record which was 10 threads. Yes some of the folks know each other, but they have all met from the DIS on cruises or area DISmeets. This is our 1st member cruise and I do not know any of the folks on the thread, but I am looking forward to meeting them as well as meeting folks from this thread too.I post regularly over there and the people are knowledgeable and will answer any question they can. The threads are very different but both very helpful.
Thank you Disboards:goodvibes

If the date for next years DVC cruise is announced on this years cruise, how will the DVC members who didn't cruise learn of the date for the next MC?

I was going to ask if this is on the Dream and saw a post that it was. Is the entire ship only DVC? The Dream does have more staterooms that the Wonder/Magic. That would mean more members could book the cruise than in previous years.

The Member cruise sounds like it would be a blast! Is there any other older threads or stickies that have info on these cruises?

Thanks, Kathy

They might announce the date on this year's member cruise but it won't be until later that you can sign up. There will be information on the DVC member website.

Based on the DCL schedules, I believe that SS Member Cruise 2012 will be Sept 16 - 20, 2012. DVC charters the entire ship so only DVC member can book for themselves and guests. In prior years, a member could reserve up to 3 staterooms.

Based on some recent posts on the cruise board, I'm not sure this is accurate.

Why? This cruise does not appear on the DCL schedule at all and it's the same time as the last several member cruises.
A poster on the cruise board mentioned that she was required by DCL to change her previously booked 2012 cruise which leads me to believe that her original sail date was changed to a charter. While I have no way of confirming this, I still think it bears consideration as a possibility for next year's member cruise. While the past few years have seen the mid-September time frame for the member cruise and your assumption may indeed be correct, I think it really could be that other date. We'll just have to wait and see what DVC announces when the time comes.

I (finally) remember some posts about an Oct 2012 cruise going charter. Looking at the DCL schedule, Oct 21-25 2012 is no longer available. We will find out in just a little over a month from now. Would make a lot of people happy if DVC chartered two dates each year.

Or a 2 week long member cruise...:cool1:

I hope it's not those days. I am currently booked on that cruise (4-Night Bahamian Cruise) :confused3
