Sales of MMB; the CM indicated that sales were not going well.
Was that his/her specific wording? Firstly, assuming that a CM knows what they are talking about (which is questionable), that could either mean that sales are less than expected, or it could mean that the actual logistics of selling them was more difficult than anticipated - which seems to have been the case anyway based on some of these reports.. In other words, I'm not convinced that this means anything.

It was DL.
The tickets with Park Hopper, during peak times, are in fact $505. Looks like she’s going during spring break dates, so that’s probably considered Peak.

Just asked MS because I’m going April 22-25. He said I just missed Peak prices, since Easter is a few days beforehand. I asked about March and he said it begins March 23rd. So it sounds like she unfortunately, just caught the higher price dates.

I think the sale of OTUP is not as easy as just a simple sale. Since they can only sell what they have, they have to get points from inventory for the right use year in the proper quantity. With the volume coming in the first day, they might have been stepping on each other grabbing points, Hopefully the have streamlined the process now.

Based on what a CM told my sister I think you could purchase up to 12 (with a 1 for 1 match) in Dec for your June 2026 UY, but then you are done for that UY. You could still purchase up to 12 (with a 1 for 1 match) with a new MMB membership in 2026, but it would have to be for a different UY than the June 2026 UY where you have already maxed out your OTU points.
Hello,

So, you can buy the OTU points one time in the same year with different memberships?
We have 2 from direct points.

Correct you would only be able to use them until September 30th.

If you want some for your Nov reservation you can make a fake reservation with MS on March 1 for October 1 and then cancel it. That would make the OTUP good for your entire 2025 use year
Ty for this info

Every membership is entitled to buy up to 24 OTU per UY.

If you have two memberships, each can get them. For the BOGO free deal, that is per owner, and they allows you one special price for points purchased during the benefit year…which is by calendar year.

So, I bought and can get one set of BOgO free on any of my UYS. I can still buy full price ones on the others

Or, my DH could buy MMB and incline BOGO on the other membership.

The CM said that sales were not what they expected, and it wasn't in a "sales are blowing expectations away" way. Take it for what it's worth, but it's the only info I've heard about sales so 🤷‍♂️.

The only way we will really know how sales are, outside of some corporate speak at a shareholder's meeting, is when they either raise the price, indicating lots of demand, or add more to it/drop the price to make it more appealing (or just cancelling it outright). Time will tell but it seems to me like early returns aren't what Disney was hoping for.

Thank you for the information!

At this point, I would just call member services and not mention your previous thing and say you’d like to purchase one time use points for such and such resort and see if it’ll go through
I called this evening. Asked to buy the 24 OTUP using the Beyond 2-for-1 deal. I asked if he could directly swap out 24 points on an existing reservation. Sure, no problem, he said. He took payment via my DGC, put me on hold for a few mins, and came back to confirm he had secured the 24 points ($240 total cost) and already returned the 24 points to my '24 UY (which I can still bank). Total call time (including the all 5's survey at the end): 12m18s.

I have no idea what went so wrong that after 7 days my original attempt to buy OTUP couldn't be processed, but this was quick and painless. Thank you for the prompting to try it again!

Wow 13 minutes for the entire transaction. Makes you wonder what in the world happened the first time since now it’s been 7 days.

It seems like some have had success getting them to swap with an existing reservation and some being forced to book new. So much easier for people are just wanting to swap (like me) to do it with them versus book some fake reservation, cancel, and reshuffle it all on your own.

I totally agree. We all know we're making fake reservations to cancel and then swap out points and they allow the end result, so why not drop the charade and let us do it directly uniformly instead of it being hit or miss depending on the cm we get on the call.

I figured since I was going to try for a do-over on the otup I might as well swing big and try for the direct swap. Super easy. And it'd be even easier if they just let us buy otup online!

So true! Do you think I really want that random one night in a 1BR SSR in May for just me that “ironically” happens to be 24 points? Lol.

I only know a handful of DVC owners in real life. And none are purchasing MMB.

FWIW, I LOVE how we are bragging about “bending” the rules regarding OTUP. Let’s continue down this road.
I mean… people are buying points to use in an active reservation if they are swapping out other points that can now be banked.

Disney is also making usage of excess “breakage” inventory of points and generating money be selling the points and MBB at $99 a pop.

Oh. I thought I read book a fake 24pt ressie then cancel.

The best part of DVC is how simple it is to circumvent their rules. IMO

I wonder how full the lounge is from 6-9? That would be somewhat of an indicator.
I don’t know that that’s a great indicator being that you can’t visit the lounge between 6 PM and 9 PM unless you’re staying on points with the added caveat that you can only go one time per trip
