The thing about it being only $99, everyone eligible will probably buy it. And some of those not eligible will gripe about it not being an option for them-even though they saved THOUSANDS by buying resale.

I don’t think everyone will buy it. There are quite a few members with lots of points that would not need the one time use points. These people also have annual passes already so there’s really no incentive for them to purchase it.

On saving thousands by purchasing resale, it really depends on when you buy/bought. I would certainly agree that you save thousands at this point in time but if you bought resale long ago, the price differential was not that much.

I am not in that camp that has lots of points so I will be with you purchasing this to take advantage of the OTUP.

I’m curious about adding park hopping abilities to the ticket if that will wash out any savings as we will finally be heading back to my home park at DL after 6 long years in June.

People have been told by CM's at MS that the cost for AP will be 95 points for new and 80 points for renewal. But, nothing yet confirmed by DVC in terms of updates to the program's information.

My renewal is up March 2nd, so I plan on doing this once I am able to do it, assuming the 80 point renewal rate is correct!

Glad the renewal works for you and that you are ok with it being more of a return to rent but not worth the hassle.

I am sure many people will buy this and many will not.

I might be interested in the passes f the price is right, but who knows.

I like that they are offering perks that could benefit people. If it doesn't work for me that does not make it a bad thing.

I like that they offer Moonlight Magic events, but never figured I would ever manage to attend one. Lo and behold we were able to attend 3 this year and the Halloween gathering at the Boardwalk. Of course we will now never have another one work out in our lives, but that is ok.

the otu points are the best benefit for us and the $99 is a tiny cost. $99 a YEAR…

I will buy the points and if the tickets are discounted enough, the tickets also.

If paying the $99 gets me a better chance at registering for the Moonlight Magic events….that will be awesome!

Of course. But that doesn’t take away from the value people will see in it for 2025 if they find that value.

So, until the price to be part of the program outweighs the benefits one gets it is a nice choice for owners to have.

I have said this before but it’s similar to TIW. When it was $75 we bought it because it was easy to find value, especially when DVc discounts on dining were not as wide spread as now.

When it got to $150, we stopped getting as it didn’t make sense any more. But plenty of DVc owners bought.

Guess it’s just not something I understand how having more options that provide owners with something of value is a bad thing.

It's pretty easy to judge the value, and simply not buy if it isn't worth it. In a couple weeks we'll be able to actually judge the ticket offers. And know how many points for an annual pass. If they were to add something like Moonlight Magic preferred booking, that's only useful if travel dates intersect with an event.

One thing they could potentially do to give members pause is if they created some sort of "charter member" for 2025 buyers, which has to be renewed every single year to maintain. But even there, the benefits would have to be pretty compelling to keep it up. They're not going to open a "charter member's only" lounge.

It's the calendar year/"benefit season"

Eligible Members can purchase for $99 starting December 3, 2024 for usage January 12 through December 31, 2025.

And herein lies the problem. At least on discussion boards! Something that holds "value" to one person is viewed as a waste to another. While we don't see the value in MMB, I understand that others will. The only thing that irks me is the "fastpass" to the DVC Lounges. Alas, I will survive!

Totally agree. I personally don't see it as a "waste". I see it as valuable to some people.

My problem is the cost and the lounge jumping are both new precedents. And those could be very bad precedents in the future if this thing ends-up costing $1000 per year and you must buy it or you're stuck with second-class-DVC-citizen status for things like Moonlight Magic entry, room requests, new ride previews, etc.

I totally forgot about the discounted tickets since we never do longer trips. Unfortunately, we have to cancel our Jan. long weekend and I think I might move to a week in July. Have there been any rumors or announcements of pricing for the discounted 5 day tickets?

The only rumor I had heard was that they would be similar to the FL resident ticket deals. Unfortunately the largest FL ticket I saw was for 4 days at 40% off.

I’m wondering if the price to make them hopper tickets is discounted but most likely not and the discount will just apply to the base ticket.

In my humble opinion, it's not worth playing the "what if" game. We could spend all day wildly speculating on future perks and prices which may never come to pass. What does that really accomplish?

Disney certainly has had precedent for dramatically overpricing stuff in the past (Starcruiser....)

I don't begrudge anyone for looking forward to this. Just, for me, this sets a precedent of paying more for DVC stuff that I don't like and makes me lose a little bit of faith in this thing that I love. Hopefully I'm just being melodramatic, but that will remain to be seen.

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but Disney Plus more than tripled in just a few years. IF that happens to MMB, then it could cost $1000 a year in less than a decade. That's just a liiiiittttttle faster than inflation.....

Except the TIW card already set the precedent…while that was for AP holders as well, it certainly was a pay for play for a DVC entitlement.

My guess is we will have info this coming week for the specific discounts..
While the AP trade point values has not been officially written, MS is telling owners those amounts…I was just told it this week, so my guess is that will hold true.

No news on the discounted ticket price though…which is why I think the points number of 80/95 are correct.
