Membership Magic Beyond

I can't even put any energy into figuring this out. I'm a West Coaster and DLT is my DVC-Y resort. I have a magic key (annual pass) and I feel like just yesterday they said I could get a fast pass for $400 for a day. Now, I think I'm being told anyone who pays for this benefit thing gets ahead of me in line for the lounge - umm, okay? I've been too busy this week and can't digest all this stuff. If the add on DVC membership gets me the $400 fast pass for $99, I'll take it. Otherwise, it doesn't seem like it's worth it unless I go to WDW and need to buy park tickets. 🤷

Looks like OTU points look like a good value. The per point cost is $14.125 per point including the add-on price. This is only 26.5 cents more than the current dues at Vero Beach. All the other perks are just gravy!

I keep seeing all these people saying the value of MM alone is worth the cost. I guess that's fine if you only take one trip a year. Am I the only one that saw it was limited to 30 days? I assume that would be from a start date to an end date 30 days later, like activating a day ticket. At least that's the way I read it. I cannot imagine that this is 30 random days in a calendar. Unless you only take one trip a year, I see virtually no value in that.

As to the day tickets being able to be upgraded to Sorcerer's, I can see why they're not letting people upgrade them to point-purchased passes, but I can almost guarantee you that ticketing will apply the purchased value to a paid (and blue card discounted) Sorcerer's pass. Not doing so would go against 50 years of policy set by ticketing and having nothing to do with DVC. Once you buy that day ticket, DVC is out of it. Ticketing takes over at the point.

I’m sure they are still working out some of the details but they missed an opportunity here to give a discount on this program (and perhaps make it free) to families who own larger buckets of direct points.

This offering has nothing to do with the new LL Premier Pass...saved you some time :)

The T & C say that you get one 30 day access to MM so sounds like one trip…

But it did say the ticket can be upgraded to a paid AP, just not toward a points based one.

Not sure how that is what it is. It says you get a free one for everyone you buy

So, if you buy 12, you get the full 24…if you buy 5, you get 10.

They are $20/point so I see them now only $10/point.

It's assuming you buy 12 and get 24 for max value. 12x$20=$240. $240+$99=$339. $339/24=$14.125 per point. If you only buy 5 points for 10 total, you spread out the $99 fee over less points. 5x$20=$100. $100+$99=$199. $199/10=$19.9 per point. The more you buy the better the value. Gotta spend more money to save more money! 🤣

Makes sense I didn’t use the $99 because I was thinking that would go against the ticket discount as well.

So, if you only buy OTU points, then yes, all $99 goes to that.

Sadly, I think you’re right. DVC-Y will simply allow you to have the opportunity to purchase the benefits, and won’t actually give you any!
[Steven Tyler voice] Wait... Wait a minute! I love that idea! [/Steven Tyler voice]

I would sincerely support taking all or nearly all DVC-Y perks and moving them to DVC-BY if it meant the corresponding costs to owners were shifted out of dues and into DVC-BY fees.

You're going to love hearing that dues are not (and can't) used to pay for perks!

Surprising news to me that it's all marketing budget (I thought it was just events where they rent out the parks at night, I forget the name right now). But I'll take it!

I didn’t receive the mailing and I’m in Canada. I’m curious as to whether it was a random omission like I’ve had in the past, or if my other non-US Disfriends also didn’t receive the email (seeing as they are currently stating that it’s USA-only).

I didn't get a mailing and I'm in US. I just saw coverage on social media.

I'm USA, opted in to emails, and did not receive the email.

Dues do not fund any of the membership extras...DVD pays for them via their marketing budget.

ETA: Whoops...see someone already answered!

I'm suddenly so glad for being a resale DVC member... as a non-resident, I'd be BEYOND furious if I were denied the privilege to pay to have the membership extras they have promised only direct members would get. Seriously guys... you DVC-Y should all get this for free. Larger lounges to accommodate the increasing number of DVC members without waitlists, discounted tickets, memory maker, you name it. If they were to offer something different to tier DVC-Y members, maybe use the same idea as DCL with the Castaway club member levels, those who have spent more, purchasing more points, have priority booking moonlight magic events, or maybe consider the years since you first purchased to show some appreciation...

I won't be able to have this add-on, but I'm frustrated to see such lack of worth delivered to you, DVC-Y members. This all should be free. Hope they at least add extra benefits in the future.
