Membership Magic Beyond

I would assume direct only as the pre-condition for the package is that you have a direct 150-point contract.

But one can have 150 direct points and now be eligible for Membership extras but also have other points in their membership.

I have 300 SSR resale points that I bought in 2017 and I can use them the same way as my direct points for stays since I bought before 2019.

So, until we get something different, right now, they have not added any language saying any points an owner has will not be eligible for trading.

Somehow I missed this news for the last month and I'm just catching up but this is a no-brainer right? Like even if you did nothing but the OTUP you're making money?

Does we know if the Memory Maker is 30 days from when you sign up, 30 days from first use, or any 30 days throughout the year?

You activate it after you buy with a start day for a trip and it’s good for the 30 days.

And the OTU points come out to a nice savings id you want to buy them! You are saving in the end.

As I shared, I always add the $99 MM to my AP. It’s good for the year but honestly I don’t need it for all the trips I do…so having this for those family trips that are important will work!

So for 2025, it’s a wash for me and any of the benefits I take advantage of are pure savings!

Gotcha, I think I misunderstood the question to mean if they could use resale points to buy into MMB.

The 35% savings on tickets at Disneyland applies to the non-hopper ticket. Hoppers are 30% off. Breakdown is $85 off each ticket (regardless of type), plus the $96 value for the included LLMP. No discount on the hopper add-on. (Hence the percentage difference).

So for my already planned trip to DLR in May, I'll be saving $362 on 2 tickets. Or $263 after purchasing MMB. Also planned on buying OTUP next year. Definitely worthwhile for us.

Steve
I hate the weekday only limitation, but am glad they added a park hopper option.

I wonder if they’ll let you upgrade to a 5-day ticket post purchase…..

Makes it hard since we always include at least 1 weekend day. Im still tying to figure out when peak is, if my trip in February is non peak it makes sense to buy even if we only use 2 of the 3 days.

I see pages and pages for WDW but not for DL on peak times.

Fewer points than expected for the AP. It's in the "ok deal" territory. If you pay taxes on the rental income, for 7 months SAP rental it's almost the same. In the UK we have a personal rental allowance and I never rent more than that, so for me it's still better to pay cash. Not that I can take advantage of this offer anyway.

If you’ll purchase 12 OTUP, it’s a no brainer.

Do you buy the OTUP to replace some of the ones you use to trade for an AP?

I haven’t looked to see if there is any savings doing that

I certainly won’t be since the whole purchase is to save me the money I use to renew my AP by using points instead.

But, maybe there is someone who might want to. I haven’t run any numbers but if we apply the $99 to getting Memory Maker and then use just the BOGO price for OTU points…

So, $990 for renewal…that includes tax…pay $240 for 24 OTU points. So, you only need 41 points to cover $750…which now raises your per point value for those 41 to $18/point.

Doing the math…that could work for anyone who has 7 month booking that can use those points to free up…now you got me thinking!

Thinking about it, for getting the benefits using your resale points, you would have had to have those points before 2021, right?

If we would use the OTUP for a 2026 trip but book in 2025, would the BOGO apply to a 2025 MMB or would that be a 2026 MMB?

If they apply the rules for use, then it would be prior to 2019.

If they apply the rules that they use for cruises, it’s prior to 2012.

If they use the same rules they do for early registration for Moonlighf Magic, then as long as one is eligible for membership extras it doesn’t matter what points you used for your reservation, including resale points.

So far, they have not put any stipulations on what points can trade. But the T & C just say points so hopefully that means whatever you own can be used.

I sure hope that these last two are the case.

When I asked via chat a while ago, the plan was that it was going to be direct points only (or grandfathered I assume). But they also quoted me 80 points for a pass renewal when it actually changed to 65 so that plan could have changed as well
