Membership Magic Beyond

After a year of blue card it’s been much more useful than anticipated and so far for us the original benefits package has widened, not decreased. I’m now thrilled at the addition of Beyond, hoping it can deliver even more. Even if components change and evolve, I’ll stay a happy camper as long as the totality of perks keeps enhancing the value of our DVC trips and improving our vacation experience.

We were actually at Epcot the day the lounge re-opened at the end of October and I talked to the CMs at the desk. Obviously take this with a big grain of salt but when I asked them to take my feedback re: we don't like the lounge priority access being part of MMB, one of the CMs claimed that priority lounge access was the #2 request of DVC members who gave feedback on the lounges. He said adding characters was #1. I didn't ask how or when these members provided this feedback but he was adamant that DVC members are just dying for that priority access...

He also said they will never add a bathroom up there because there isn't space for it.
I can believe people asked for priority access. Isn't the success of LL (early statistics said about 50% of guests bought G+, but I don't know if it's still true after all the price increases) coming from the same angle?
People are happy to pay for the privilege of skipping the line in front of others.

I'm all in on paying for the efficiency that comes with the LL offerings. Whatever the price, I'm in for our family of 4. The time we save/get back is always worth it to me personally.

Making that decision for a lounge? I just don't get that at all, but that's me. Plenty of others feel differently and that's ok.

"All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."

And when they took all the clocks out of the DVC rooms, they said it was because members requested it.
I can imagine a roundabout way to get there: Combine "I want dues to not go up so much" with "I don't care if there is a clock there or not" and taking them out means not spending the money to replace them when they break.

Except the TIW card already set the precedent…while that was for AP holders as well, it certainly was a pay for play for a DVC entitlement.

My guess is we will have info this coming week for the specific discounts..
While the AP trade point values has not been officially written, MS is telling owners those amounts…I was just told it this week, so my guess is that will hold true.

No news on the discounted ticket price though…which is why I think the points number of 80/95 are correct.
I am presuming those have to be direct points, correct? Or if you are eligible because you own direct points, could you use resale points for it?

I keep telling myself it's still not a good use of my points and I should rent out point instead if I wanted, but there is something to be said about not paying cash and not having to deal with the hassle of renting, so I'm definitely debating on this one. :-)

Owning direct points doesn't change any restrictions attached to resale points.

The AP purchase benefit is an interesting back door into something some DVC members have been requesting for more than a decade: a monthly payment plan. If it's 85 points for the AP with dues of $8, the annual cost is $680 which can be spread over interest-free payments of $57 per month.

The AP perk is probably one aspect of Membership Magic Beyond that helps (financially) support the program as a whole. It all depends on how many people take advantage of that benefit, but the exchange rate is tilted in Disney's favor.

I won't get into the wisdom of actually USING points for this purpose. I'm guessing there would be a lot more interest from people who originally paid <$100 each for their points, including resale points that were grandfathered before the perk restrictions were put into place. I don't see many people deliberately buying points at today's prices of $200-220 each for use toward APs.

Oh, I didn’t think it would.
I was just wondering if you had to have the Membership Magic Beyond to purchase (requiring you to be a direct owner), but that it might actually let you use any points you own.

I’m expecting it to be direct points only but it would make me happy if I could use resale points for this. :-)

IF the resale points were purchased prior to the restrictions being introduced, you would probably be able to use them since they are grandfathered in as far as usage goes.

If I have to guess, they will require direct points to use for trades….but it is a guess.

I equate it to trading for cruises…direct or resale bought prior to 2012…can be used.

There are really two aspects that people mesh sometimes. Which points csn be used for things and being eligible for membership extras.

So, once can have DVC Y because they have some direct points or grandfathered resale points, but that doesn’t allow them to use resale points brought after 2019 at the new resorts.

I am thinking that will be the case with this but honestly, I hope I am wrong and can use my resale SSR points…but I am expecting to have to use my VGF direct points.

Don’t know if it was discussed by points for annual passes are up

“Use your Points to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass to enjoy Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks. Get a new pass for 75 points or renew your pass for 65 points.”
This is so much better than we thought! I’m actually contemplating a renewal now. Did it clarify if we had to use direct points/eligible points for this or can be done with resale?

It did not. However, the statement reads your points, which I read as all of my points could be used. However, I may be reading too much into that one statement.
