Members Homecoming in May

Hi All,
Our best friend is also a DVC member. He is celebrating his 60th Birthday, and will be coming down to WDW in May with us. I would like to make this birthday really magical. Any suggestions for a 60th Birthday gift?

I would suggest an illuminations cruise. It's a bit expensive, but worth every penny. My DW and I did this for her mother a few months back and she was amazed. They did a nice job of decorating the boat, and had a cake and soft drinks. If memory serves the cruise was $180 plus an additional $50 for the birthday package.

An Illuminations cruise is great! We did it for my FIL's birthday (went without the birthday package) and he loved it!

Maybe do what we did and start the evening off with a nice dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse and then a short walk to where you pick up the boat for Illumiations. He had his cake at dinner.

Or if you want to get him something DVC related the shops at all DVC resorts (VWL, BWV, BCV, OKW) all have some nice (but limited) DVC merchandise. Logo mugs, jackets, polo shirts, t-shirts, etc. That way he can tell the world he's a DVC member!

Thanks for the suggestion. An Illuminations cruise sounds great. Is it $180 for all (4) of us, or $180 each? It may sound like a silly question, but.....

The $180 covers up to ten adults. With only four of you, you'll have plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy. To book one is a little tough. You need to call at the 90 day mark, (407)-WDW-PLAY, exactly at 7 AM EST. But it will definitely be that special experience you're looking for. I believe there's a permanent thread about the cruises on the theme park strategies board. HTH

I made a mistake on the price. The cruise is actually $120 plus 6% tax for the basic cruise. The birthday package is $220. Sorry for the mistake. Definitely check out the illuminations cruise thread on the theme park strategy board. Good Luck!
