DH & I will be attending the Members Homecoming. Originally we planned on just the two of us going and the kids (4 & 9) spending the two evenings at the Cubs Den.

I just booked the airfare tonight for this trip which makes it all the more real. Now I have a pit in my stomach. Not sure I am going to be able to leave my children at the Cubs Den. This is not something we do a lot. Not that I don't think they would be safe or well care for -- I just am second guessing this line of thinking. Even though DH & I were looking forward to having some time by ourselves, I'm just not sure this is something I'm going to be able to go through with.

Is anyone planning on bringing their children to the Members Homecoming?

Cindy - sorry can't help as we don't have kids. The hours do seem late for little ones. They might enjoy the MK one but don't know about Epcot or the Grand Opening.

Mary, that's exactly what I was thinking. If it were two nights at MK, I would jump at the opprotunity. But I'm not sure the little guy would handle at night at Epcot. I'm fairly certain he'd be bored -- which would mean we wouldn't have a good time. Maybe I just need to look into the Cubs Den a bit more to find my reassurance.

When our son was 7, and again when he was 9, we took him to the Neverland Club at the Poly for a night (I think that was the club's name...this was more years ago than I can believe). He had a blast and has extremely fond memories of his "independent" time at WDW. While I initially had twinges of guilt, to him, it was his own personal adventure. He is 20 now and thinks I worried too much :D .

Two good points here:

The late nights will be a bit long for many kids of that age - particularly Epcot. I'd hate to spend that amount of money for the MH (and we are) and have an unpleasant night for all concerned.

Don't feel bad about leaving your kids at Cubs Den. Think about it: you're leaving your children with trained Disney child care CMs at one of the Happiest Places on Earth, not dropping them off unattended at a junk yard - they'll be fine.

Just thought of another idea: for what you'd pay for two children's MH tickets, you could easily pay for in-room baby-sitting; seem to remember Fairy Godmothers service.

I know about Fairy Godmothers, however, I think this is a private service, not a Disney service. Not sure I'm all that comfortable with that idea.

We are going down in March also. I just said to DH last night we'll have to plan an evening to leave the kids at the Kids Den. Just so they get their feet wet. If it doesn't work, that still gives me 2 months to figure out what to do.

Hi! we're going to Member Homecoming and taking our 4 year old daughter. I did initally have doubts about taking her to the Epcot evening but decided to anyway. She loves Test Track and music, so I think she'll enjoy the DJ and dancing. We will just go back to our resort late in the afternoon and let her swim so that she will be able to take a nice long nap before the evening begins. We did this in Dec. before the MVMCP and she was fine the rest of the evening. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

This might not help much, but we are taking our then nine month old daughter.

The bonus for us is that we don't need to pay for her admission.

I don't think you should worry about leaving your kids at one of these places. I hardly ever left my kids with a sitter at home but they had a great time at the Nverland Club. And don't even think about picking them up early. They had special stuff like someone bringing a parrot or a magician or other things at different times during the evening. My boys were always asking us When we were going to do something on our own so they could go back to Neverland club.

We are taking our 8 year old as he is used to late nights, but our 20 month old we plan to leave with the in room babysitting service, Fairy Godmothers. We don't think she can handle the late night.
