Disney Vacation Club recently began mailing the 2008-2009 Vacation Planner, which should arrive in all Member homes by the end of December. In addition to providing information to help Members plan future vacations, it also includes a variety of changes and enhancements to the Member Getaways program.

The changes are part of a continuing effort to provide the Member community with a variety of high-quality vacation options at some of the most popular destinations and iconic resorts.

Here's a sneak peak at some of the changes:

World Passport Collection: Due to the increased popularity of Interval International® exchanges, 3- and 4-night exchange options will join the currently available 7-night offerings in 2008. Interval International continues to offer some of the most affordable options for Members who would like to explore vacation experiences around the world. As an added convenience, Members will be able to make direct Interval International exchanges online beginning in spring 2008.

Concierge Collection: Disney Vacation Club has refined the Concierge Collection to focus on the most popular destinations and iconic resorts offering great value and a wide range of experiences.

Adventurer Collection: The expansion of Adventures by Disney guided vacations to 17 unique itineraries around the world has allowed Disney Vacation Club to focus the Adventurer Collection primarily on these Disney-quality experiences, delivering the world-class service and attention to detail Members expect from Disney.

Please note that all reservations for any current Member Getaways exchange option that is being discontinued must be booked by Jan. 31, 2008, and all stays must be completed by May 31, 2008, based on availability (with the exception of an Adventurer Collection exchange that begins the last week in May and is not a night-by-night exchange). All other Member Getaways exchange options will now comprise the new 2008 Member Getaways offerings.

Is that the same as eliminating some of the present choices in the Concierge Collection? Seems to me that will be the result. Is this like the $95 charge that was added to some reservations in order to simplify things for us? :dance3:

I have to admit, I am not a very frequent visitor here at Disboards these days. But I got the email from DVC today, read what the DVC Members website had to say, and came over here to see if there were more details available.

So far, I'm not finding any.

This seems to be a very big change in the Members Getaway program, and I'd like to see a list of what options are no longer going to be available to DVC members. The members info says simply "all reservations for any current Member Getaways exchange option that is being discontinued must be booked by Jan. 31, 2008, and all stays must be completed by May 31, 2008."

To me, that means there will be a number of destinations that are no longer available.

Anyone know anything more at this point?

Bruce

Tanque Verde Ranch and the Arizona Biltmore have both been eliminated. Tried to book both yesterday for a July 2008 trip we are taking to the Grand Canyon and I was told they are no longer offered for stays after May 2008 :sad1:

I wonder what the point requirements will be for the I.I. 3-day and 4-day stays. Most point systems (eg DVC, Hyatt, Hilton) all charge a lot more for weekends than weekdays. If the 3-day is a weekend stay, and the 4-day a weekday stay, the 4-day may (hopefully) be a bargain point-wise.

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone know if you get chaged the $95 fee to book in the concierge collection. We have some extra points to use this year, and need to stay in Chicago for a night in Jan. If we have to pay $95 plus the 36pts it takes to stay at the Whitehall it won't be worth it. Especially since I can get the room for $132 right now on line.

Thanks
