member discount on Disney Cruise

Hi all! just want to know if we get discounts on DCL if paying in cash not using points through member services, since a lot of people were saying that its not worth using points on cruises. Thanks!

I have no idea... I've cruised using my points and frankly could care less about the value. If you don't have a larger number of points, you might consider a cash reservation. However, I think you get the general rates...

Our guide wanted us to try the cruise and do a 3 night sea/land cruise.

If you bought your DVC points to take a vacation, then use your points anyway you see fit. If you want to be frugal with your points, you'll want to use them in a manner to get the most for each point. The DCL takes lots of points, even for the three or four night cruise. You can use points for the first one or two and pay cash for the additional. We did the four night cruise several years ago (maybe 2000 or 2001) and we used all our points plus we had to borrow some as well.

You can get lots of nights in a villa vs a few nights on the cruise.

Agreed about the time in villas versus the cruise but I love the cruise and it is a different kind of expereience, whether you travel on points or on cash... It's a trip where all of your meals are paid for...
