Member Cruise Questions

It takes several hours but it was comfortable. The schedule posted on their site was accurate however you have to stop at the border and go through customs there. Ours took about 15 minutes but it can take much longer. The driver doesn't know what the procedure will be until he actually gets there. It was 59 each way for adults, but children might be less and there is a small discount for 60 and over. There was wifi on the bus but it only worked on our trip while we were in Canada. The bus did make a rest stop once in got into the US - for restrooms and vending machines.

I'd booked the 10:45 departure from Canada Place figuring that gave me plenty of time to debark the ship. Unfortunately the ship was cleared but it seemed to take a long time to get luggage off. If I did it again I would keep my luggage and carry it off myself with the easy walk-off. We didn't get off the ship til 9:45 and still had to wait for someone to unlock the door where our luggage was. We were the first DCL cruise of the season though so maybe the process gets faster as the season progresses.

DCL does offer insurance, but I bought from an outside company for the upcoming cruise. I paid for the cruise with cash, but I am not sure why I opted for outside insurance.

Right. I just wondered if it worked differently since this is technically a charter...

Today I sent MS a question regarding cruise insurance for the member cruise. When I get an answer, I will post.

I know we purchased the insurance for the member cruise last year.

So, anyone else daydreaming about the 2015 cruises?

I posted this on its own thread. This is what MS says about paying cash and travel insurance.

Welcome Home Barbara,

Thank you for contacting DISNEY VACATION CLUB®.

We appreciate your interest in travel insurance. If you are paying all
cash for a reservation on the 2015 Member Cruise, we will not be
offering DISNEY'S CRUISE LINE'S® travel insurance. Once the reservation
is confirmed, you can call TravelEx to see how much they would charge to
cover the reservation. Information is available either by calling
Travelex at 1-877-886-4664, Monday - Friday: 8AM-5PM CST or visit
www.travelexinsurance.com for alternative insurance needs.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Thank you,

Larry

Does anyone know if this qualifies for interest free if charged to my Disney Visa?

I've been looking into this today, and if it works the way other Disney cruises do, we should get 6 months interest free as well as $50 OBC.

Anybody else know if it's different?

I think the problem is it is a charter, and the money is paid to DVC. Check out your ideas, I remember this discussion from past member cruises. It did not work if I remember correctly.

Okay, so we might not get the OBC. But DVC purchases are also 6 mos interest free, so I still hold out hope for that.

no OBC, but free 6 months financing for Aug 2014 DVC cruise.
