Well, Bob was SUPPOSED to being typing the Pear-ASailing report but hes been in Japan and then Korea, eating dog. Yup. You read that correctly. Mans best friend. Bobs dinner. Uh-huh.
Im recovering really well from my surgery. They finally took the stitch out of my eye (NOStitchtheAlien) and it feels so good. The vision is 20/25 with my glasses and the Dr. is very optimistic that the surgery will work perfectly.
And, for those of you who were kind enough to worry along with us, SD is doing GREAT! He is now on a maintenance dose of Zoloft daily. He doesnt need the Xanax at all. We are incredibly proud and happy to say that hes doing great in school and is feeling GOOD! Thanks again for all the wishes, prayers and kind words. It meant so much!
SO, back to the TR! I will be updating the TR, but will leave out specific details on the Pear ASailing so that Bob has to do it......
So, the handy dandy schedule says: Friday- Vero Beach (leave hotel around 10 am) and then: Friday 4:30 pm 9 holes of golf at Oak Trail and no plans for evening. But, you know that we cant be held down by any SCHEDULE!
The alarm went off at 7:30 am. The parasailing adventure has been rescheduled to today at 9:30 am. This means showering (man, all this showering, its wearing me out!) and dressing for our trip to the Contemporary Resort. We decide that well get the car from the valet and drive over. The funny thing about the transportation at BWV is that we consistently forget that we can take BUSES from EPCOT to other resorts. So, we do this weird on/off thingy for a few days before we figure it out. We go IN to EPCOT, we walk THROUGH the park to the front, we get ON the monorail, we get OFF the monorail, we walk TO the buses, we get ON a bus, we get OFF a bus, etc..... Until, almost a week into our trip, I realize that we could just get the BUS from our hotel to Epcot and then to the resort were going to!!! Well, it was hot. And thats my excuse.....
Anyhoo, we drive the car over to the CR. Its around 8:45 am when we arrive and park in the lot which is right next to the new BLT. Its not anywhere NEAR finished though, and as yet unnamed. We find our way through the hotel, noting the new resturaunt tucked in the corner near the back. Bob and I make a mental note to visit The Wave in the future.
If you ever happen to book a parasailing adventure, youll need to go out the back doors at CR and walk down the walkway to the outbuildings that face the lake.
Yep, right between there:
This is where you check in for your flight. That done, we are told to hang around the dock for the boat crew. There is one other couple there. (More on them in a minute....) Its gorgeous and sunny out today! I generously apply the sun block to Bob and myself. There is a very good reason for this sun-protection! While you are zooming around on the lake, wind whipping your silky tresses like a banner in a parade, lake spray gently cooling you as your boat captain hits the wake hes making-----you are BURNING TO A CRISP! Yes! The sun is hot and burny. And dangerous. Wear your sunblock people!!!
So, this other couple. They are her: Mid-twentysomething, short, spiky red hair in a peekaboo bathing suit and covered in tattoos. And, him: Also in his twenties, has no tattoos and is tall and lean. They look like a typical college-aged couple. The did not speak to us the entire time we are waiting for the boat guys. Fine with me. They were not cuddly, or touchy-feely with each other but they gave off a definite Were Together type of vibe. The boat guys finally pull up to the dock. They are young, with sunglasses and baseball caps. They help us all aboard the boat, which is a typical speedy boat. (I dont know what kind of boat it is, if you need details please go to the Sammy Duvalls Watersports page!) They ask us who is flying and who isnt. Im the only isnt. We sit on comfy seats along the sides of the boat. The other couple decides theyll go first. So, as we make our way around the lake and get up to speed, they give some instructions. I dont recall what they were, perhaps they were important, but I wasnt going up so I didnt listen.
They call the young couple up to strap in. This means sitting down on the front of the boat facing the back, putting your feet through the harness and getting hooked in. Then they take your partner and do that for them, with you sitting between their legs. So, NOW the commotion starts! She starts complaining LOUDLY that his ewwwwwwwwww hairy legs are touching her. Uh, yeah, theyre pretty much
wrapped around you ! Anyway, she is whining and complaining about this for the whole time I can hear her. They fly away off the back of the boat and up into the sky. In ten minutes or so, they reel them back in and as soon as I can hear her above the roar of the speedboat engines, I can hear that shes still doing it! OMG. What was her issue???? Bob and I exchange curious, WTH glances and then its his turn.
So, heres Bob up in the sky.
I have tons more photos and so does he. I also have video of Bob going up, sailing around up there, and coming back in! So, when and IF he ever comes home from Japan Ill make sure they get up here!
Bob loved para-sailing. Hell likely do it again sometime. It was lovely riding around on Bay Lake, enjoying the sun and spray on the boat. I didnt get sunburned so I was thrilled! At the end of our adventure, we departed the boat and wondered again WHY shed go parasailing (tandem) with a guy whose legs she found so revolting!
We decided to ride the monorail around to the MK and go in for a pastry at the Main Street Bakery. We hadnt had breakfast yet and we were starving! The crowds were INTENSE that morning. I volunteered to wait in the long line for pastry while he grabbed a table for us. I wish I could remember what we got but it was 6 months ago! I did make notes, but not on what I got. (Also, have you guys noticed that if you do a particular thing ALOT at Disney, you forget which time youre thinking of???) I mean, we ALWAYS visit the Main Street Bakery, so how am I supposed to remember if THIS trip I got the apple turnover or was that in August? We were going to ride a few rides but it was pretty crowded and hot. I think we settled on just walking about a bit, doing some shopping and then we hit Cosmic Rays for some burgers.
Small Confession: I am not much of a red meat eater. I didnt eat any at all for almost 8 years, in fact. BUT, I love me some Cosmic Rays burgers. I dont know why. They are like crack to me. I crave them. I have to have one if we are near MK. Its a sickness....
Heres a picture of the deliciousness. Yum.
For the record, thats with:
Lettuce
Tomato
Ketchup
Mustard
Pickles
Dont forget to watch the Famous Sonny Eclipse! His show is FAB!
After we finished our lunch, we went back to the monorail and rode back to CR. I had seen a set of pins that I wanted to get for Gus. He collects monorail pins and they had a mystery bag at the gift shop on the second floor that had 3 of them in it!!! I believe it was $10 so we swooped in and grabbed that. Then we made our way out to the car.
We rode back to the BWV and parked our car with the valet again. I think we discussed what wed be doing the rest of the day. The kids had had a nice lie-in and were finished breakfast when we arrived. They wanted to go swim so we all grabbed our suits and headed out.
I will update the rest of today later on this afternoon. I promise!!!!
I have to see if Gus is feeling any better (hes home sick from school today and was vomiting all night!) and then its time to get SD from school.
Hope you guys enjoyed this update. The rest is pretty good! Come back!
