Any recent travelers on Megabus? Looking for some recent reviews on this company. I'm considering booking a trip from Boston to NYC is summer for me and my DD's. Rates are much cheaper than the train and driving my own car does not appeal to me(although I will drive if the bus is not a good option) any thoughts?

My daughter and I were on the Megabus in February. Our trip was comfortable and uneventful. I only have good things to say about the company from price to cleanliness.

good to hear! I've been reading mixed reviews on Yelp etc. Did you do the BOS-NYC route?

My son and his girlfriend had a bad experience a couple years ago. It was before the big wreck and some of the other problems, so it may be better now. They would not ride it again.

My great niece uses it to go from Atlanta to Chattanooga when she goes to visit her Mom from college. She loves it. She gets free wifi and gets to relax for a really good price.

ANYTHING on the road can wreck. I wouldn't worry too much about that. "it" Happens.

DH's brother uses it on a regular basis. Occasionally there are delays and things but no more so than with an airline; although delays are never reported on the section of their website that is supposed to do so.

We went to NYC but not from Boston. I believe the trips are very similar. And yes anyone can get in an accident.

We were on a double decker Mega Bus around Rochester and there was black ice and storm. Tractor trailers were off the road everywhere but our driver was very safe and trained. We felt safe even though there was all that around us. (Please note this as a trip a few years ago).

if you don't mind me asking, was their bad experience a safety issue? Or more nuisance issues (delays etc)?

My niece took it from Knoxville to D.C. and had a good experience. I had never heard of it before. My DH is obsessed with going somewhere on it. I think we may take it to ATL sometime.

I have done Megabus Boston New York a few times. Usually it leaves on time and is a quiet ride. It can run late on arrival depending on traffic but usually on time or a tad early. Since they switched the New York to Boston departure location I don't like that one. It just seems like a long walk from Penn Station in the middle of no where.

I will take either Megabus or Bolt bus fom Boston but returning we now stick with Bolt Bus. Last time w stayed at the New Yorker hotel and pick up was right at the hotel. Bolt Bus also has a reward program. I would compare a prices between the two but they seem pretty similar to me. I last used Megabus from Boston in February.

My girls have used it. My 20 year old rides by herself to and from college. Likes it better than Greyhound. Other DD took it to NYC and back..no bad experiences.

My friend's son takes it fron Pittsburgh to Philly to come home from college. I don't think he has ever had a problem.

I've done the Megabus BOS to NYC and back a few times. The New York departure location is a bit confusing as there are so many different destinations leaving around the same time in the same general area. But the price is good, bus is clean and comfortable, wifi and charging station are a bonus too.

Both. The ride up was long but uneventful. Back was a different story. They had to wait a long time before the bus "came," then it turned out to be the one that had been sitting there all along. They made three or four unscheduled stops including one at a gas station where the person running it came out and yelled at the driver. At one of the stops, everyone was told to get off the bus, then it drove away with no explanation to the passengers. The driver of that bus had all their tickets. Another bus came, but everyone spent some time wondering if they were stranded. They said they did not feel safe and were uncomfortable sleeping because they wanted to make sure they were continuing to head in the right direction. They were also several hours behind schedule and were afraid the drive was trying to make up the time.
