I'm so sorry you're going through this! Just remember that no matter what your wedding will be wonderful because it really is about you and your DF getting married. And no matter how many people do come, it will still be very special.

Have you thought about the Attic or maybe Ariel's. Ariel's has a little of that Art Deco style with the way the pillars in there are shaped. You could probably also do the Napa Room at California Grill. I actually like some of the ballrooms they have at the Yacht Club. There was one room that had windows and the decor is fairly neutral.

If you need to spend some extra money to meet your minimums, I recommend confetti cannons, they shoot them off during the last dance and make for awesome pictures!

And if there's anything I'm good at, it's spending money! With a smaller than planned wedding you could really do a lot of the extras since you need to meet the minimums anyway. I would do more floral, maybe upgrade menu choices, get chiavari chairs, upgraded linens, hire musicians for cocktail hour / ceremony, those lit-up ficus trees. And it will just make everything look even more awesome and all those people that backed out at the last minute will be sorry they missed it!

No ADH... I have no idea what I'm going to do. This changes everything if I have to give it up because of the drama. I had a definite vision and plan for my wedding and now it's all falling apart two months before the wedding.

Hey, I checked mouseweddings, magical kingdoms, Carrie's passporter book, and NONE of them said anything about minimums, just maximums! I bet they just want to try and prevent Escape brides from using it, so that they can save it for larger events! If you are already booked there, I don't see why they wouldn't let you keep it? As long as you meet the minimums, I really think you will be okay!

Meg I'm so sorry sweetie! I Can't believe people are doing this to you this close to your wedding. If i could say how i really felt about them i think the Mods would bleep out most of it but just know i wanted to say some not nice things!

Anyway... I would do what pezaddict was saying make this the best and most amazing wedding ever because you have the extra money to play around with and not only will that make it more memorable for you BUT make those (insert bad word here) wish they had come to this beautiful wedding.

I would check into your other options, as much as i love ADH i understand why you're worried about how many people are going, you could do the attic, ariels, oh living seas is pretty! The Napa room... there is another one i'm thinkin of but i can't remember for the life of me what it is. Anyway no matter what you decide to do it'll be amazing!!!

:hug: I'm sorry Meg that people are being pains-in-the-you-know-what...Try to remember that it's about you and Rob and that some people just can't be pleased. I agree with everyone else, take the money you would be spending and upgrade like heck so that later when those nay-sayers look at your photos they'll go "Dang I wish I had gone!"

I put in an email to my WC, Pam to see what she says about minimums. Depending on what she says - we'll work on changing the game plan tomorrow. I completely forgot about Ariel's - that would change things, but not as much as if we were to have to go into a ballroom. I really don't want to do the ballroom route...

If we have to change and Ariel's is an option - I'm going to email Diane to schedule a phone call - we'll have to change things around based on about 35 people.

Keep your fingers crossed. I'm of the mind set right now (and it's probably not very mature of me or very kind at all) but after all this drama - I really want to make this shin-dig as incredible as possible. Thanks to all you wonderful DISBrides, I have hope!! :angel:
 
Sorry for all that is happening. Hope you can keep ADH but if not Ariels is wonderful. I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep us posted.

The latest update is that I've called both my WC + WP and their assistants and no one seems to be around today! My WC is back tomorrow, and I had sent her an email last night about this, so I'll hear when she gets back if I can keep ADH. :headache:

I never even thought in the back of my mind that a lower guest count would kick the reception out of ADH. I've completely fallen in love with the ADH, ever since the PS. I mean in the grand scheme of the world, losing your reception location isn't the end of everything - it just feels like it right now! :sad2:

And I've looked in my contract and it doesn't say anything about guest minimums - just minimum expenditure. :confused3 Ditto for Carrie's book!

Just to add more drama into this mix - remember how I said Rob's mother was going downstate and was going to get all the RSVPs from his family (which is rather large) at a family reunion? Well we got them!

And all of them... every single last one of them... was a no. His mother is one of 8 children and each of them have about 2 children - some of them grown with their own families to give you an idea of how many nos we just got. :sad2:

I'm stunned - Rob's really upset. I just don't know why everything is going kerflukey at once! This was Meg's Drama Free PJ and now it's become Melrose Place! :sad1:

Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and pixie dust!! I called my WC first thing this morning because I was being my usual neurotic self and Pam said there are no guest minimums at the ADH, just food and beverage minimums! So I'm uber happy, back to the normal planning - let's hope that we got all the drama out at once. :banana::banana: <-- Me and Rob dancing at the ADH
