Hi all,

I am very tempted to meet Mickey or some characters , I was just wondering if this would be a bit weird as a solo adult as I know most of the people queueing up are family’s with younger children. Have any of you done this before, what was it like?

thank you!

While standing in line with my family, I’ve seen solo adults do meet and greets. I don’t think it’s weird at all. I get excited seeing the characters too. It’s not just for kids.

YUP YUP! Everyone is welcome to meet the characters. I'd say most trips, most groups in lines were all adults. My adult kid found out one of his favorites was at POR so he left the park, bused to hotel, met the character, bused back to park.

HAVE FUN!!!! :mickeyjum

I’ll also add on that a lot of solo adult vloggers are normally in line for character greets as well in order to get content for their social media pages so you wouldn’t look out of place at all and should just go and enjoy yourself!

Solo Female. I find it easier to do meet and greet or character dining with the full costume characters. I don’t have a problem with Mickey, Pluto, etc. I feel weird with the Face characters who can talk back to you. But with Mickey you kind of forget there is a person inside and you just interact with the Mouse, dog, chipmunk, duck etc.

On a couple of trips, I separated from our group and visited a character by myself (I'm a male as well). First time I felt a little awkward but after that, I didn't care. Never received any disapproving looks from anyone...and a couple of times the group either in front or behind me offered to use my phone for pics.

I can agree with this. While I don't think its weird for solo adults to enjoy meeting face characters, once I hit about age 16, I started feeling a little awkward around them, and being called "princess". Now that I have children myself, I feel much more comfortable interacting with them. Again, not weird for those that do enjoy it, but just a personal thing. Now, I love being called "princess"! 🤣

I've done it a ton, and it's fine.

The only instance where it got weird was when I had to measure the "actual wait in line" to meet Ariel in the MK.

I think I went through the line like 10 times by myself. Each time, the attendant got slightly closer to Ariel.

Finally I said "Hey, I'm just here to time the wait in line", to try to not make it weird. Ariel said "Uh huh" in the same way you'd say it to a kid who said "I didn't break that vase."

It was hilarious.

I'm early-70ish and thoroughly enjoy meeting characters.

This is DISNEY! Everybody's a kid there.

Go have fun! Mickey and friends will wonder why it took you so long because they've been eagerly waiting to see you.

Mickey and the gang are fine. Just don’t meet a princess as a solo male; it’s a bit creepy and she will be very wary of you.

I apologize if I'm hijacking this post! I just have a quick question... I've heard about a "talking Mickey" that sometimes does meet and greets. I think I'd probably be more comfortable meeting a Mickey that doesn't talk. Where is the talking one? Is that still a thing?

The last two times I have been in the princess lines, they have been mostly adults.

They don't have the photographers anymore, so you will have to ask someone to take your photo.

I've seen it a ton and have offered to take the pic for the person either in front of me or immediately behind me with their phones for them since they were solo. I don't think it's weird unless you make it weird lol

I’m not gonna lie. If you show up dressed like the character, or with a plushie dressed like the character—or like YOU—and take 20 shots with your own camera, then 20 more by the PP photog with you in the shot, with variations of posing the plushie…..yeah, I’m gonna think you’re weird. But I’m still not calling you out on it if you stood in line just like we did! Seriously, have fun with it. I love my character pics too.

(And this literally did happen to us at SWW with Jedi Mickey and Leia Minnie one year. My kids kept looking at me and I just kept saying “shhh” 😂😂😂)
