Meeting Gaston

Hi everyone!

My husband and I are going in August for our honeymoon. I don't think we'll spend very much time meeting the characters, but I think it would be hilarious to meet Gaston! He is one of my favorite villains. My husband works out a lot, and we thought it might be funny for him to challenge Gaston in arm-wrestling. We saw a Youtube video in which someone did this, and it was great.

Does anyone know....

1. Has anyone ever seen Gaston LOSE a challenge? Just wondering ... I'm sure no one loses like Gaston!

2. How often does Gaston appear outside his tavern?

3. Typically, how long is the line to meet Gaston? We're going at a low-moderate time for crowds, according to crowd calendars.

We've seen him several times with our DD who is 2 and he is hilarious. I haven't seen him arm wrestle anyone, but my guess to your question would be that he would cheat. If your husband really wants to antagonize him, have him wear something with the Beast on it, or mention Beast.

He is VERY popular (especially with the ladies), and he also wanders off as the mood strikes him. He meets off to the side of the shop, not far from the bathrooms, but he does walk over to his fountain and even into the Tavern (especially if he sees a 'Belle' around). The earlier in the day the better, as the park gets busier as the day goes on. Generally for characters who come out like he does, you want to arrive at least 10-15 minutes before they are scheduled to appear, and there still might be others waiting. You can find his times on the MDE app, on the times guide (paper one given out with maps), and also Kenny the Pirate has great character times and info.

His line was only 7 minutes when I met him in November... I was wearing a Beauty and the Beast shirt, my fiance had went to the bathroom so it was just me and DS(4) and he looked at my son and said "Is this your mother, how do you let her go out of the house wearing something like this?!" He then went on telling my son he needed to be the man and monitor my clothing because I was dressing very well lol It was too cute they then made muscle poses.

We saw gaston today. Yes he has lost to a kid,

We arrived at 1045 he was coming back at 11. We were 2nd in line.
My daughter has spd sensory processing disorder and he let her warm up he didn't know but he was fantastic with her. He wouldn't give me the autograph book back to me bc I was woman & women shouldn't read books! He was too funny.

Not sure how it would work with a face character, but I had a keyblade-vs-hook fight with Captain Hook last year (it was a keychain keyblade, from Kingdom Hearts) and was told by the CMs I'd never win. So we settled on a tie. Again, I'm not sure how that would work out in arm-wrestling, but at least it's worth a shot to challenge him!

As for lines, we went during a decently slow time of year with rain off and on all day and the line was pretty short.

I've tried to meet him 4-5 times in the past year- in August and in January. He's "been out hunting" every time. Also the CMs at Town Hall were no help like they used to be. They didn't call the character line like they used to they just said "check the app" and if it was listed on the app then it was definitely gonna happen. Well Gaston was listed every day but I never got to meet him! The CMs at the store have more knowledge about this and were very friendly.

I hope you get to meet him! I'm sure it will be a great experience!

He - and the Tremaines were the best character interactions we had on our last visit. The person ahead of us WAS a body builder. And he started with the line, "I see you've been following the diet..."

Great time. And short line. In June.

In our experience lines have been less than 10 minutes. My daughter was dressed like belle he took her around and showed her his tavern and then walked her out to fountain and took pictures with her. She was embarrassed because probably 15 people followed them around for 10 minutes. Pretty cool for her!!

In our experience, he will happily flex his muscles for photos with your DH if asked. We've got some cute photos of DH and Gaston flexing together.

hahaha 1. Nope. Gaston would never lose a challenge. Not even to my RED FACED 10 year old trying to arm wrestle him. 2. On and off during the day. 3. It gets long fast! We were there in January and we got in at the end (he only just started appearing about 15 minutes before) and the line was cut off after us. He spends a good amount of time with each person before moving on which is really nice! I highly recommend meeting him! It was one of the highlights of our trip!

We were there in January and we got in at the end (he only just started appearing about 15 minutes before) and the line was cut off after us. Aww, your son really gave it a great effort! I bet that was hilarious to watch. Gaston really is one of the BEST meet and greet experiences.

And it's not widely known, but he has a sensitive, soft side, too.

Oh it was hilarious! The photopass guy took over 15 pics! I made a video. I just don't know how to share it. Lol but yeah my sons face was bright red. He was trying with everything he had! Then Gaston had to "Check the time" lol

Ahhh! Gaston...the ONLY Character I insist on meeting this next trip. (Yes we are a middle aged couple going without kids). I even have a half hour set aside in my Touring Plan for it. I am not going to miss the opportunity.

My DD wants to meet him, and get a pic, but I too, want to get a pic. A mini flex off. I'm not big, but he's roughly the size of a barge, so think it will make the friends (and DD) laugh.

Last summer while we were in line to meet him a little girl was getting his autograph. He said to the little girl, "Ok, I'll sign your book but don't fall in love with me. You see that girl right there (points to little girl's shirt, which has Belle on it)? She has my heart. And she loves me, too. So I can't marry you." Lol. It was so cute. He is lots of fun and is very unpredictable.

I tell you what...in April we were seated in the front row for the Beauty and the Beast show in Hollywood Studios and after Gaston flexed my 23 year old DD said oh dear, Mom those muscles are real. By the end of the show my little princess who had been in love with Belle and the Prince her entire life had jumped ship for Gaston! Her father and I laughed and teased her her unmercifully about wanting the bad boy for the rest of the trip!

When I was there in December there was a family ahead of me and Gaston challenged the dad to an arm wrestling match himself!! He would never turn down a challenge though, I'm sure!!
