Meeting Characters??

Hello!
We are going to Disneyland August 15th to 18th. We are driving from Canada and are all very excited for our first trip to Disneyland.

I was just wondering what characters we have the chance of encountering other than the ones we know are going to be at specific places. Do some characters just wander around?

My DS4 really wants to meet Buzz.

Also are the character meals worth the splurge, we are planning on going to Ariel's Grotto for DD7 and Goofy's Kitchen for DS4?

There are some characters that randomly appear or wander. Queen of Hearts and White Rabbit, or Peter Pan and Wendy in Frontierland.

Not sure if Buzz will be in Tomorrowland. It has been very crowded with a long overflowing line for Star Tours. That could change. He may be in DCA by TSMM.

There should be characters on Main Street and in Toon Town

We went to Goofy's Kitchen in November and my kids loved it! They were able to get autographs and take pictures with Snow White, Aladdin, Genie, Chip & Dale, Goofy and Pluto. It was definitely worth it!

We met Buzz last week in in DCA near Toy Story Midway Mania. We had gotten in line for Jessy, but she went on break an just as she was breaking Buzz appeared. So my advice would be that once you see one character, hang around some to see who appears during break time.

I did Goofy's Kitchen and had a great time. We wnet at 9:30 during the week and it was really slow. In the room with us was just 2 other tables. Pluto spent a good 10 minutes at our table, the Mad Hatter was having a great time with the whole room, Goofy's son Max was there, Chip and Dale and Baloo. Goofy greeted people up front with pictures. And the food was amazing - they had just about everything you could think of and some things you wouldn't like Mac and cheese pizza!
