Meeko's Walt Disney World Trip 2001
So far, it's been three wonderful days at Port Orleans, Downtown Disney, EPCOT, and Disney-MGM Studios.
Thursday, like all the other days, started with Disney cartoons on Vault Disney. After breakfast it was on for EE at Magic Kingdom. I was suppose to go to MGM Studios this morning, but since I couldn't do MK the night before, I switched to this morning. I actually saw more than I would have at night.
Took the bus there and spent some time on Main Street soaking up the atmosphere. Saw the new displays at the Emporium (glad to see Pocahontas was still included in it) and how the construction was coming along. Next it was on to Tomarowland to do Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (did OK; can't remember my exact score). Next, I decided to do Astro Orbiter, which I had never done before. Thought it was really fun and it had a great view of the park. Walked through Fantasyland waiting for the park to open. When it did, it was straight to Frontierland to get a FastPass to the only MK mountain I hadn't conquered, Splash Mountain.
While waiting for my time it was off to Adventureland to try the new Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Had a lot of fun. There was no wait at all. Even got squirted by the Camel. After the ride I headed back to Frontierland for the Country Bear Jamborey. It's been close to nine years since I've seen it last (usually see the Christmas show). Enjoyable and had a great time.
After the show, my FastPass was ready so I headed back to Splash Mountain. Just walked right through the queue and right into the log. It was really fun. More drops than I thought there would be. Sat right up front, but was saved from getting soaked by wearing a poncho. After that, I shook the water off my poncho and headed back down Main Street onto the Monorail to MGM.
After walking down Hollywood Boulevard, made my way to Sunset to get a FastPass for Tower of Terror. It was a while, so I headed to the ABC Commissary for some lunch. Afterwards, I did the Backlot Tour. It's changed a bit since last time I went. The water effects tank was rethemed to Pearl Harbor making it an absolutely new experience.
After the tour, It was time to head back to the Tower. Walked right into the Library and sat in the front row on the elevator. Afterwards, I went to the Theater of the Stars to see if there were any seats left for Beauty and the Beast. There was some great seats still left so I watched some of the preshow and Beauty and the Beast.
The show was absolutely wonderful. It has very much improved since last time I saw it. After the show, headed to The Magic of Disney Animation. Looked like it might rain soon so thought the indoor tour would be the best thing to do. The tour was great. Lots of animators were working on Lilo and Stitch, which I think is next summer's movie. Looks pretty good from what I saw. After I got out of the tour, the rain had completely stopped and the weather was clearing up.
Still had some time so I decided to Head to MuppetVision. Great show. Lots of fun. Looked around the shops near Muppets and Echo Lake before heading to the Brown Derby for the Fantasmic dinner. It was great. The themeing there is wonderful and the food was great. Even had some of the streetmosphere characters greeting guests at the tables like they were movie stars. I had a great time. After the meal I looked around dome of the shops of Sunset and Hollywood and arrived for Fantasmic. It was pretty neat because, first I got to see some of the backstage and second I waited only about 35 minute for the show (waited much longer last time). The seats were great. I don't know if it was busy or if it had anything to do with the previous night getting rained out, but they were seating the Fantasmic package guests in the Ursula and Witch sections. I got in Ursula and it was a great view. The show was absolutely spectacular, defiantly one of Disney's best. After the show, headed back up Hollywood Boulevard and had one last look around before heading back to the Riverside.
