Mediterranean Excursions

And, Mike, check out this link

http://www.europeportreviews.com/Rome2.htm

if you haven't already -- it makes it really clear about all the steps involved to use the train. Although it says the BIRG was 9 euros as of 2005, I had read recently on cruise critic that someone bought it for that same price as recently as fall of 2006 . . . even if it has gone up, I can't see it being more than 10 or 11 euros.

Julie, Where can I buy train tickets for 9 euros? This site:

http://www.raileurope.com/us/index.htm

Shows the fare to be considerably more than that? Is it reccomended to get the tickets in advance or can we just wait and get them at the train depot 2when we get there? What is the BIRG ticket?

Any infor is appreciated.

~Mike

Hey Mike, I found info on the web about the BIRG ticket -- for Civitavecchia to Rome and back, and all subway and buses in Rome, it is in fact still 9 euro:

Does anyone have "Vincent" booked with limoinrome? Just curious - some recently said it was hard to chose between the Rome tour companies - what made you choose limoinrome?

Also, in case anyone is interested. Papillon tours is doing a CinqueTerre/Pisa trip for us. They are very easy to work with:)

Hi all!

Just looking at the Palermo excursions and I am considering Mondello Beach. Does anyone have any further information on how this beach is? It mentions that it is located in a lively resort town, and one can peruse the shops and cafes as well.

Any input would be appreciated.

I found this website

that has some nice pictures and a webcam. . . looks lovely to me!

One more question. Has anyone filled out the forms for the Private Car excursions through DCL? Just wondering if they are more pricey than the vendors mentioned previously here?

I did and the prices seemed quite high. There was some discussions earlier where the following was posted (around page 13):

La Spezia $1200 $1500.

Seems to me they are far from reasonable.

They do van for 1-6 guests or 1-13 in some cases and in napes 16-22 guests and the prices for that seems much more reasonable. i.e. Private minu bus with driver 8 hours 16-22 guests for $1400.

That seems very expensive. Higher that what I've been seeing.
2 - $399 ea all admission fees/car/guide
3 $399 ea. all admission fees/car/guide
4 to 6 $219 " " "
7 to 14 $159 " "

This is a little higher than a few others too. However, the others didn't include admissions fees, so it will be about a wash.

Hi Andrew,
We are also using limo in rome for our Rome tour. Did you request Fabrizio? I have read great reviews about him on Cruise Critic. I requested him in my emails with Claudio but have not heard if he will be our driver.
Thanks

has anyone been able to book the monte carlo at night and a different excursion in the day? I have heard that the system is only allowing people to book one excursion a day.

Yes, we booked the "Make your own Perfume" and the Casino at night. No problems...

I know this thread is for excursions, but I figure you all can help... I just got off the phone with DCL who said we can board the ship in Barcelona up till 9pm. Not just for touring but for people arriving (flying in) as well. They said after 4pm, you will have to board the ship directly and have to carry your own luggage to your room. Has anyone else confirmed this? I need to know for sure because my in-laws are flying in that day and their flight arrives at 5pm. Which means they won't get to the ship until 6pm. (they are flying non-stop from Casablanca, so there isn't much chance of being delayed.)

I need to make sure they can still board after 4pm!

Thanks!!!
Jennifer

Jennifer,

I don't know about the time cut offs for carring your luggage :confused3 and all but, when I called about touring the city after checking in I was told that the all aboard is 8pm and that the boarding process will start no later than 1pm. I got this info about a month ago, so I don't know if it is still true.

We are new Disney cruisers and are very excited…:yay:
What a way to start out!!!
I have to say that picking the excursions is a little overwhelming but fun.
They offer a treasure hunt in Lucca. We have 2 kids 10 and 14 and thought this would be different.
Has anyone participated in a Disney treasure hunt?
Is it worth it?

Thank you to everyone for all your help and information on taking the excursions or doing it on your own. It makes things a lot easier!:thumbsup2
