Ok, so maybe I'm over-preparing, but last year while at WDW, 3 of the 4 in my family got sick and we spend hours getting to and sitting at Main Street Physicians (I think that's what the clinic was called.) My insurance wasn't acepted there, although I filed a claim back home and was reiumbused for the most part. I'm wondering if we would have been better off going to the hospital??? Any other options there? We have a rental car and BC/BS insurance.

Ok, just got off the phone with my insurance and they referred me to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

I am local, but I just went to CentraCare on CR535 almost directly across the street from The Crossroads shopping area. I have BC/BS. I had not problem using it. I didn't even pay a copay since it is an urgent care center.

I hope you don't need to visit a doctor on your trip!

I also think that Centra Care offers a free shuttle service if you are staying on site and you don't have a car.

1) CentraCare is endorsed by WDW.
2) Their brochures are at every Guest Service counter - parks and resorts.
3) CentraCare has three WDW-nearby centers.
4) CentraCare does provide transportation to/from WDW parks and resorts.
5) The other option is Florida Hospital at Celebration.
6) You get there and WDW pays to get you back.
7) At both medical establishments, insurance cards are accepted.
8) If all you need are Rx or OTC drugs, Turner Drugs delivers to all resorts.
9) They do not accept any insurance cards, and meds are billed to your room.

Please be aware that CentraCare fees start at $160 and all lab, etc. is extra. While I was there yesterday, a couple came in with a little boy. CentraCare couldn't get their insurance to go through. The couple left with the boy to go to Celebration Hospital instead of paying out of pocket. CentraCare is considered an urgent care center. Not all insurance covers this.

Just a heads up about Celebration Health Hospital...I unfortunately had to spend several days there last year during what was supposed to be my vacation. While the hospital accepted my insurance, the admitting physician DID NOT!!! So even though I made sure the hospital was a participating provider the doctor on duty was not and I had no other choices available. He was the doctor they assigned me even though they knew what my insurance was and should have known he was not going to accept it.

My insurance company said there was nothing they could do, so I ended up owing almoust $1000. I am still mad about it...

On a side note, does anyone have a suggestion for a different hospital near WDW? Celebration Hospital just screwed up in so many ways that I never want to set foot in there again. Hopefully I won't need a hospital next time, but if I do does anyone have any suggestions for one that is at least slightly competent?

Thanks in advance...

The same thing has happened to me several times. If it isn't an out of network doctor, it is a lab. They use whoever is available. They don't take the time to match up physicians with your insurance. I have always managed to get an out of network anesthesiology group. I can't imagine how hard it would be to always get the right people considering all of the people who could treat you in a hospital.
