Hi all, just a quick query really, my partner has pretty recently been diagnosed with epilepsy, less thn a year ago, he is not controlled yet and is worried about the medical care if he was to have a seizure over there, i am able to cope with it but i am assuming we would get assistance back to the hotel etc if it were to happen in a park? I don't want to admit i am nervous about this, i have travel insurance twice, one through the travel agent and one through epilepsy action, so i know we are covered if we have to go to hospital. Just a little on edge about it :confused3

Any help would be greatly appreciated, ooh and i am excited too! :yay:

Hi, if you look in the Very Useful Info sticky there is a link to a post that a DISer wrote describing the medical facilities at both parks, here. I've not used the facilites at DLP but have at WDW so rest assured that you'd be well looked after - and I'm sure you would be given assistance back to your hotel if needed.

Hoping you'll have a magical trip and not need to see the inside of either place. :goodvibes

Hi

I have a son with epilepsy (as well as cerebral palsy and severe learning difficulties) and until a few years ago when we finally found a medicine that worked it was not at all well controlled. Even now, overexcitement and tiredness can bring on a fit (so everything Disneyland induces!) but we have always had excellent care from Premier Soins, the first aid station in the park. To call it a first aid post is to put it down as it is like a mini hospital in there with fully trained paramedic staff. We have spent quite a bit of time in there over the years and there are long-serving staff who recognise us now. Once when DS had had two bad fits on the same day as a precaution he and I were taken to the nearby hospital at Lagny. DH was told to stay in the park with the other children who were only small at the time and that Disney would arrange transport to bring DS and me back after seeing doctors at the hospital. People complain about UK A&E waiting times but I have to say this was as bad in that way as anything I have encountered back home with DS and others waiting for hours on hospital trolleys and inadequate seating for those of us accompanying the patients but the staff were doing their best and very pleasant. It helped that I do speak reasonable French here, not sure how DH would have got on, but the doctors spoke English and were very thorough. They even managed to find some baby food for DS (he cannot chew well even now) as he is always ravenous after the sleep that follows a fit. Disney were as good as their word and sent out a driver to collect us once DS was given the all clear and located DH in the Park to let him know we were back.

I would not hesitate to recommend the medical care at DLP and wish you both a very enjoyable and worry free trip. :goodvibes
