Medeival Times or La Nouba?

I am thinking about surprising my family with tickets to a show, and I think Medeival Times or La Nouba are the two they would enjoy the most. We have never seen anything like either of these shows. La Nouba would cost about $100 more (I would get the "cheap" seats) and does not include dinner, although that part doesn't really matter. My DS is 8, almost 9, and has expressed interest in going to Medeival Times in the past. My DD just turned 5. Opinions or reviews would be appreciated, especially from people who have been to both. Thanks for your help!

We saw La Nouba our last night and it was FANTASTIC. We had the least expensive tickets and the seats were great. It doesn't matter if you are off to the side at all. It's a small theatre and there really are no bad seats. That being said, buy tickets for this. Your kids will not be able to take their eyes off the stage.

I also recommend seeing La Nouba at least once if possible. Our children were around 8 & 10 when we went and they absolutely loved it as much as we did. I haven't been to Midevil Times, however, so unfortunately I can't offer any comparison info. Good luck.

Now you guys have me thinking we should go see it next month! LOL We've been to Cirque du Soleil here in Chicago, seen at least 5 different shows, but not La Nouba. We also haven't taken the kids, our kids are 7 and 4, do you think that's too young? We always felt it was a little geared towards a somewhat older audience...but perhaps not?

Our kids were 5 and 9 when we went to La Nouba in 2005 and they both loved it!!! DS (the 5 year old at that time) had no problem sitting through it and paying attention.

We took our DS when he was 6 to see cirque in San Jose. He loved it. There is so much to a cirque show that it can keep kids interested. I haven't yet tried it with DD (2) - not sure if she has the right frame of mind for something like that yet...

If you want to try it out on younger kids - SeaWorld has a cirque style show (odessea?). Its a great show, about half an hour long and is good for judging if your kids will enjoy it.

I vote for La Nouba.

Out of the dinner shows, I have heard that Dolly's is one of the better ones (for the quality of food and entertainment), but have not yet been.

We saw La Nouba in Jan 06 and our ds was 5, almost 6 then. We all thought it was amazing! Like someone above posted, he had no problem sitting through the show, he was mesmerized, as were the rest of us. I am interested in hearing about Medieval Times though b/c we may check it out this Oct either in Orlando or outside of Chicago. Nothing excites my 7 year old like swords and knights

I went to Medieval Times a few years ago, and it was an alright time. You were seated in an oval around a center arena, and they had horses, some sword fights, and some bird demonstrations. The food was good (no silverware!) and the atmosphere was nice. Little kids would probably like it a lot for the action (they give each side of the seating their own knight to root for) and there's the "king" and "queen" who come and see the shows too.

This was a few years ago though...so I'm not sure if anything has changed.

Have fun deciding! I'm sure you'll love either one.

OK you guys convinced me just bought 4 tickets to La Nouba for 4/17! Taking the kiddos this time, we've seen about 5-6 of the various Cirque du Soleil shows as they've come through Chicago, they're just awesome, just wasn't too sure how well young kids would like it.

i have been to both and would definitely say la nouba is way better...medieval times was fun too, but if you really want to splurge go to la nouba....acrobats are amazing as well as the music....i am just hoping the kids will like it, i am sure they will though if they are not too whiney like my brothers!

Saw La Nouba 2 yrs ago with hubby and 2 teens. Teens still talk about it- it sure is different. Not a bad seat- don't have to get highest price. This year want to try a dinner theatre-just don't know which.
