we went to see meatloaf at the mero arena last night and it didnt turn out quite as expected. It was obvious from the start that something was wrong with is voice and he was struggling. After about five songs he started paradise by the dadashboard light and said "enjoy this paradise as this is the last one im doing ever and this is the last show im doing ever! " He only got part way through it then left the stage saying i cant do this and left the stage. very sad if this is the end of his career as he was always such a great showman. Gill

I haven't heard anything about this, I read that he not going to allow press to his concerts as he has put on weight but thats all.

It will be sad if he does retire.

It is a shame your show was cut short too :scared1:

I'm a huge Meatloaf fan and have been to see him many times. The last time we went to see him was when he collapsed on stage due to a heart problem and the show was cancelled. We had the choice of a refund or tickets for the rescheduled concert, we went with the tickets, however when we finally got to see him I have to say that I was disappointed, he just didn't put on the normal show so I can't say I would be surprised if he did quit, personally I think he should've quit after that tour.

He was always a fantastic showman so it will be a great loss but when you gotta stop you gotta stop.

I haven't heard anything?? We saw meatloaf a few years ago he was great :thumbsup2

Just seen this on DigitalSpy

Meat Loaf cancels gig over 'stress'
Thursday, November 1 2007, 13:08 GMT

By Kimberley Dadds

Meat Loaf cancelled a gig in Newcastle last night half-way through the show because of "stress", it has been revealed.

The singer was appearing at the Metro Radio Arena and was performing 'Paradise By the Dashboard Light' when he stopped suddenly, thanked the audience and walked off the stage.

An announcement was then made saying that Meat Loaf had become ill and a spokeswoman for the arena explained that his larynx had become inflamed.

Meat Loaf's tour promoter, Andrew Miller, denied that he had told the audience that the show was his final gig, telling the BBC: "I've spoken to his doctor and it's clear it's just exhaustion and stress. It's not his last ever gig, that's for sure. He'll be fine. We hope that 24 hours' rest will get him better."

We are massive Meatloaf fans, seen him numerous times over the years, Saw him go from his best to his worst then this year at Sheffield Arena was amazed how he had recovered and almost back to his best. DW enjoying all the old stuff best and me all the newer recordings, took DS and his friend (12+13 years old) as they are are both fans.
I would pay the ticket price just to see Bat out of Hell performed live.
Hope he comes back from this but at 60 year old I fear his performing days are almost over which will be a sad loss to live Rock and Roll.

Claire and I were there last night as well. I've been a massive fan of Meatloaf since I was 13 and this was my first ever concert (I know, the shame) and I'm devestated about how last night turned out. His PR guys are saying it's not going to be his last show but I really think that if he's not going to be able to do the job any more he should call it a day. :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

so sorry you only got half a concert but you seemed to be at the right place at the right time to hit the gossip columns!!!

Have only every seen a tribute meatloaf band at Butlins (meatloaf II I think)

Hopefully you will be able to enjoy again once he has recovered.

Sorry you never got to see the whole concert. I saw him in Glasgow last Sunday (28th October) and he was really good. He did mention the thing about the press being banned supposedly because of his weight. He went off on a rant about the Sun and how he plans to challenge them to prove he has put on weight. He was raging but his rant was hilarious.

Anyone heard anything today? We are meant to be going to see him next Thursday. xx

It was the headlines of the BBC North East news yesterday.
They said he was stressed and exhausted but would go ahead with the concert in Birmingham tonight.
No refunds were to be given for the short performance in Newcastle. Sad for those who went.

i,ll be really sad to see him go ive seen him over the last 20 years but i really wish we hadnt gone on wednesday and could just remember him at his best! I hope those who have tickets aernt let down but i dont think i would care to see him live again unless he makes a real recovery. Gill

friday night show in birmingham was cancelled with very short notice ( so i heard on the radio)

I've got friends who are meant to be going to see him in Manchester on Sunday night. It will be interesting to see if it goes ahead !!
