Can you still catch a Mears shuttle at MCO to go to the Disney Resorts? The Magical Express doesn't really float my boat.

Disney Express is operated by Mears. So are you asking whether you can get a private car run by Mears and pay for it yourself?

I have also read that if you walk up to the Mears Shuttle Counter and are going to a Disney Resort they may direct you to a ME bus.

What is your issue with ME? If you don't want your luggage handled by ME just pick it up yourself and take it the ME shuttle.

As the PP noted, Mears is the ME vendor for WDW. You can still pay for the "regular" shuttle, which is a van you'll probably be sharing with other visitors unless your group is large enough to fill a van. They also have taxis and limo service.

Well, I suppose you can. But to what end??? Are you trying to save time? If so, you aren't going to. If you want to take Mears to a WDW owned resort, you can't reserve your ride before MCO arrival. So..you would go to baggage claim, get your bags, take them down to level 1, head to the Mears counter, which is the counter just before DME area, pay to ride the bus. Then, you 'may' be put on a DME. If that is the case, you are still going to have to walk over to the DME bus lines, wait for the appropriate resort bus, get on, perhaps wait some more and then off to your resort. If you are not directed to a DME bus, you will be sent outside to the checkin kiosk for Mears. They will either put you on a bus/van, or give you a 'pager' thingie. Then when it goes off, you will return to that kiosk, and be put on a bus/van. Then, that bus/van may make many stops before getting you to your WDW resort.

I have used Mears to the S/D. I was lucky in that I had carryon only, had my reservation already made, and was almost immediatly put in a van, which left as soon as I was seated. It took me about 85 mins from gate to the Dolphin.

It has taken me around 50-85 mins (usually about 70 mins average) when taking DME.

So, I am interested in exactly why DME doesn't 'float your boat'.

hi, we only need a return journey, can we book mears from the wdw dolphin to take us back to the airport while we are staying there, or do we have to book it further in advance thanks

Short answer is No and fwiw Disney's magical express is operated by Mears.

If you would be more specific I am sure folks here can help you find what you need.

The ride on Mears' regular shuttle is quite comparable to the ride on Magical Express but be aware that there are usually more stops on the Mears shuttle.

You cannot make an advance reservation from Orlando Int'l Airport to a Disney's resort but if you neglected to make a reservation on DME or if you don't have a resort reservation you can walk up to the Mears counter and buy a regular shuttle ticket.

Advance reservations are needed for Mears' shuttle back to the airport. They say 2 days in advance but in a pinch you can make it 1 day in advance. It is common to be scheduled to leave the resort 4 hours in advance of your flight.

You can do it right there during your stay at The Dolphin - there is a Mears phone/area over at The Swan (not sure if there's one at The Dolphin) - it's right by the flight info screens & the Disney Desk. You can use the courtesy phone to make your reservation. I made mine with Mears the night before I needed it, no problems. You can't miss it, it's a big black & yellow phone with at large MEARS sign!
