MEARS Shuttle (Not ME) From MCO

In August, we'll be headed to the Dolphin :cool1: for a week and need transportation from MCO (just two of us). Since we've really splurged to stay there, we're trying to cut our transportation costs to the bare minimum.

We used ME last year and were very pleased with it, so I'm leaning towards using the MEARS shuttle this year. Has anyone used it lately and how long does it take you to get to the S/D? We are arriving at 8:30 am.

I really don't want to rent a car and a towncar for two of us seems expensive. I quess I'm hoping for someone to tell me they liked the shuttle and that it didn't take too awfully long to get to the hotel. Then my decision will be easy and I can quit obsessing about it.

Thanks in advance!

I personally hate using Mears. Sometimes the wait for a bus to fill takes forever. Check the prices because I don't think a towncar is that much more expensive. I have seen roundtrip prices of 80/90.

There is a good chance Mears will be transporting you on a DME bus so I'd expect a reasonable wait at MCO.

DME does not go to the Dolphin unless you have booked tranportation thru Disney Cruise Line with a land/sea package.

(There are exceptions to this but regardless of what vehicle it is, it is still treated as the Mears shuttle so you will have to have a voucher or pay the cash fare.)

If you have booked with Mears, and there is a DME bus going to YC/BC, BW, etc., then there is a good chance they will put you on that DME bus. Technically, DME doesn't service S/D, but Mears does. I'm thinking about staying at the Dolphin but we only need transportation one way since we're renting a car to drive to Tampa at the end of our WDW trip. So, only $18 pp for each of us. But, if there are 3 or more people in your party, and you are going roudtrip, then perhaps a towncar service might be a better way to go.

I've got a bunch of $3.00 coupon/pp rt if you want one. Just PM me and I'll get one in the mail. $6 savings for the 2 of you! :wizard:

This would be the exception rather than the norm. It has been done when vans were in short supply.
I know I've picked up at Swan/Dolphin in the early am hours with a DME/DCL bus but I have to collect the Mears voucher or the cash fare.

Absolutely! I hope no one thinks they are going to be able to use Mears to get to S/D for no charge. That wasn't my thought. Of course they are going to be charged and rightfully so.

Oh, I didn't think that at all. I was just saying that it was unlikely you'd be on a DME bus but if you were that it would act just as the Mears shuttle. Did that make sense? I think I just confused myself, LOL.
