Has anybody meet a mean cast member. And is it true that if You report a mean cast member they get fired

No they don't get fired but they do get reported and could.

I just see it as they might be having a bad day and just remind them of What would Walt think If they come back with anything but a smile i report them to CS that night . Even make a voice note with the details.

On December 25th 2004 my family & I were comming back from the store at the TTC to the Resort Monorail entrance & the Cast Member said "where do you think your going, the Magic Kingdom is closed." (This was around 3:00 PM in the afternoon.) We said we were going back to the Contemporary & showed him our Resort ID cards. He said I don't care, talk to those CM's down there. So we did & they let us go towards the Monorail. We did not report him as it never occured to us & it was our last day of our vacation at WDW.

Has anybody met a mean cast member?
I'm sure someone has. I guarantee it. I have not.

If you write a letter, will they get fired?
I'm also sure that's a possible outcome. I'm also sure that many letters do not result in firings.

I'm answering your questions in a way consistent with formal logic.

Why do you ask? The question smacks of pot stirring. Do you have an grievance to air? It is Festivus season after all... :)

I seriously doubt one guest's report would get anyone fired, but a pattern over time might get somebody a back stage transfer or a polite see ya'.

From what I can tell, you have to be humorless and scowl a lot to work the monorail. I wouldn't want to report them all, though, because it would be a shame if they all got fired and the monorail was shut down.

Maybe it's the red wool uniforms? They look might scratchy. :joker:

The Monorail was not shutdown. It was running like it normally would everyday for the guests staying at the Contemporary, Polynesian & Grand Floridian.

Buttercup wasn't talking about your issue - just the Monorail CMs in general.

Does the MK close (early) on Xmas day? I never thought to look. I just figured everything was open as normal, if not more, on Xmas day.

Yeah, there's no way a single letter ALWAYS turns into a firing. There are too many wacky people out there (and on this board) for that to make sense as an HR policy. However, I'm sure each is noted and trends (and severe cases) are dealt with. So a particular letter might just be the proverbial straw that sends a CM packing.

Yes the MK along with Epcot & maybe MGM & AK close their parking lots early on Christmas Day & other major holidays, as there is always to many people that want to go. So they can not let anyone else in, until enough people leave the parks.

Buttercup beat me to it. The Monorail CMs are the rudest I have ever encountered. Even if they aren't being flat-out rude, I cannot remember a time when one of them has been friendly to me. It's such an anomaly at Disney.

Here here about the Monorail workers. I had two lulus during our recent trip. This one's the best.
On last Tuesday, we were leaving MK heading to our hotel at the Poly. When the Monorail pulled in, I noticed no one was up front so I asked if our family could ride up front - the CM working the platform said sure. When the monorail driver closed the door before pulling out of the station, he asked where we were going - I said to the Poly. He said OK but if anyone was waiting at the Contemporary to ride up front we'd have to get out and ride in the back. I tried to be polite and mentioned I'd never heard that rule before, and again said we're resort guests, and what would he do if he picked up a guest at the Contemporary and there was someone waiting to ride up front at the Poly would he kick them out etc... and how it's always been our experience that we can't force someone out if they are already there (nor would we want to) - he just said "Sorry that's the rule". So I said fine when we get to the Contemporary have a MANAGER tell me that's the rule- otherwise, I'm not getting out. As soon as we pull in to the Cont., he gets out and goes running down the platform. We must have waited about five minutes and then a senior guy comes back to the cab, apologizes profusely, hands out the co-pilot's licenses and offers to take us around the whole circuit again.

I guess the the first guy was wrong.

g.. u really said that huh. nice. he was jus trying to be fair.

i talked to one on the phone the other day. he wasn't very nice. i didn't report him tho, DF wouldn't let me lol.

i've met one or two that aren't having the BEST day, but in person i've never had one of them treat me too bad.

Fortunately I have never met a mean CM in any of my trips.. Actually they have all been nice and friendly..

Yikes! It never occured to me I should be checking smiles as I wander around. What if their smile is just not big enough?

"Hello..is this the CS? Yes...It's me again..." :furious:

No, the first guy was right, he just didn't explain things clearly (or he may just know the rule, but not the reason).
Each resort monorail train is 'assigned' to a different monorail resort - two each, I think. That resort's Guests have priority for riding up front. If someone boards the Grand Floridian monorail at the Polynesian, then there are Guests waiting for the front car AT the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian-boarder/s must exit the front car and move back.

So even though you were already in the front car, if there'd been someone waiting for it at the Contemporary, yes, you would have to exit. From your report, there wasn't anyone waiting - but your insistence on hearing from a manager caused the driver to go in search of one. Receipt of your co-pilot's license does and the apology you got NOT mean the driver was wrong - it just means the manager was smoothing over the situation.

In all the times i have been to WDW i have never come in contact with a rude Cast member. A couple of times i could tell they were having a bad day (and im sure they could be set off easily), so we'll crack some jokes or ask them if they are having a bad day, tired etc, and ask if they would like us to get them some water or something, usually brings a smile to their face. Also we have never come across any rude monorail CM's..they are always so nice to our family and try to help us out (we normally travel with a double stroller and a single :P).
We all have to remember they are only human and they have to deal with a lot of crap all day long...i have seen many, many people in the parks rude to the cm's for no good reason, they could put anyone in a bad mood, even in the happiest place on earth...i say cut them some slack... ok im done now..lol :rolleyes1

We have to remember that although we are on holiday, they are actually at work and have to put those smiles on everyday.
I know for a fact that i simply couldn't be the perfect cm every minute of every day.We all have hiccups in our lives that can be hard to switch of from.
I don't think i have ever met a cm that would have upset me enough to feel the need to report them, although i have met plenty that made my trip more special for the extra help they gave us or for simply being kind.

CMs are not like members of the "Palace Guard" who are expected to not "break attention" throughout their shift...

but all-too-many guests now think its OK to try to goad every cast member to the breaking point (or just constantly be on the lookout for a CM withouit a beaming grin) and then point out the "slip-up."

Sheesh, just-above-minimum-wage, long hours (many at impossible workloads,) with the expectation of perfection of duty... AND a smile... at all times.

That's a tall order, but one that is actually MET by most CMs on a regular basis at WDW and Disneyland.
