Does anyone know how many meals will be provided on the 10:25 flight from Man to MCO :confused3

Just want to make sure I've got enough goodies packed to keep the kids happy, they just seem to be eating non stop popcorn::

One main meal and a snack. With PE you get a snack when you board as well, and then all classes get icecream about an hour or so after lunch. Take things for the kids - it passes the time and keeps the whining at bay. ;) I was saved last year by a large cup of pick n mix from WH Smith :rolleyes1

One main meal - usually chicken or beef. Pudding was a GU chocolate pot last december which was nice, but no cheese and biscuits. Not sure if your kids are too old to want a kids meal but it was dinosaur pasta bolognaise - you need to pre order kids meals.

Later they serve a light meal - finger sandwiches and biscuits.

Think we also got an icecream.

Take food!

I don't find the food GOING to MCo too bad....quite nice. LOVE the Gu chocolate raspberry pots we had. But, LEAVING MCo the meal was horrendous. All cheese, bagels, etc...there was nothing there for me to eat. Either cheese, or cheese. I survived the flight on a blueberry muffin from Burger King :thumbsup2

I missed out on the GU pot last year, as I had a vegetarian meal. I got fruit salad instead! I wouldn't mind but I checked the packaging and it was suitable for vegetarians! Oh well. I'll specifically ask for one this year.

Just a thought, notsure how old your kids are, but have you ordered them a childs meal?

They wont automatically get one unless you have pre-ordered it? and IMO the kids meals are far better than the adult meals

In December we got 1 main meal, bowl of salad, bread roll, (cant remember what the main was but it was awful) and a choc pot, which I dont like either.

And then a sandwich (there was no choice and everyone was given coriander chicken:sick:) and think it was a biscuit:confused3

I always take load of snacks then at least if you dont like the food, you have got something to eat:thumbsup2

i would always bring food just in case, crisps, chocolate etc just in case! the food on virgin is generally ok but if you don't like something its good to have a back up as 8 hours can be a long time!

we always buy sandwiches crisps etc from boots, along with tracker bars, sweets etc.
mints and gum, anything to keep them quiet for a break:thumbsup2

wierd, my partner is vegetarian and she got the GU pudding :confused3

I didn't much like the GU raspberry one, much preferred the just chocolate one we got in 2008!

As far as the meals are concerned don't forget they bring an ice cream round too ...

Maybe they ran out and thought it was less noticable to skip it on the special meals :confused3 I did wonder when you posted if it had gelatine in but you said it is veggie friendly so maybe not. Yes, ask. They should give you two next time!

Gobstoppers :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

DH and I love the sandwiches from Pret a Manger (sp?) in Gatwick airport and plan on getting some before I board :)

if you make sandwiches at home- can you take them through security to eat on your flight??

I don't see why not. You can buy sandwiches before you go to MCO for your flight home and take them through security with you so it should be the same other way around. We stay overnight at a hotel before we go so I haven't tried taking food from home.

Yes, but as with any food - make sure you eat it or dump it - no dairy or meat allowed through immigration. Also, fresh fruit - this is a bugbear of mine!!!!! the last 2 times we have been, some parents seem to think - despite at least 3 warnings on the plane - it is ok for THEM to just take in a small pot of grapes/apple wedges for their toddler it isn't!!!!!:confused3 and it holds everyone up...

Anyhows, the kids meals are great - they tend to have lots of "bits" (well, they did year before last) the kids didn't want to eat it all at once, so managed to dole out bits of it as we went on.. but as others have said - you need to prebook it. My eldest (9) hates the "goop" as she calls hot airline food - it always tastes the same- how can they make beef and chicken and FISH all taste the same!!! My youngest (8) loves it and will hoover up everyone else's.

Bizarre - they even remind you before you leave the aircraft and they do so specifically about the fruit. I guess they have learnt all the trends. Some people just have a problem with instructions

We have pre-ordered the kids meals. :thumbsup2

And yes I think we'll take plenty of snack to dole out at intervals on the flight, thanks for putting my mind at rest :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Yes, take the snacks. The forgot DD's gluten free meal last year, despite it being pre-ordered and then confirmed over the phone a week before we flew. Took it up with them when we got to Orlando. They apologised profusely and promptly didn't supply it on the return either. They did send her a letter and a £25 VA voucher though (just to force us to use them again if we wanted to spend it :rotfl:)

Didn't notice much difference from previous meals. We had a bag of pretzels and drink after take off, a meal, but no cheese and biscuits, an ice cream and then a sandwich and a cookie before landing.

How do you pre-order kids meals. I have been on the VA site and pre- booked seats etc but the meal options didn't give a kids option? x:confused3

Customs should be as strict as they are in Australia. If anyone has seen Nothing to Declare on UK Living, people can be caught with 1 apple and still get a $200 fine.
