Just checked with AAA and was told 10 year olds pay as adults on the meal plan. If your kids eat like a kid it's best to pay out of pocket for smoe meals and save those adult credits for the adults, that's my opinion.

I agree that is the way to go if you have a 10 year old that is satisfied with kid's meal portions. It is just not feasible to pay $35 a night when a counter service kid's meal is uder $5 and a buffet character meal is $15-20 max. It would be waste.

On the other hand, my 9 year old son is solid muscle and eats more than me at most sittings so the dining plan will be perfect for us! LOL!

Yep- that def. makes sense. Our daughter was nine last trip, and we still paid for some of her meals, and used the credits towards the more expensive meals.

It is a very nice feature of the plan- that all the credits are lumped together. Allow for much flexibility.

I am going with my son in two weeks... for 5 days - 4 nights, and I debated quite a while about getting the meal plan. $35.00 is a waste of money for a 10 yr old, but you can play the game and make it work to your advantage.

We are actually going to have 6 TS Meals - I am going to pay out of pocket for 'Ohana and LTT. He looked at the menus and will eat an adult meal at SciFi, Le Cellier and Alfredos.

The counter service breakfast we will split..... I will eat eggs etc... he is satisfied with a Cinnamon bun and chocholate milk.

I wish he was 9 - that would make the plan a steal.... but this way, we are still getting to eat places we would never even try.

My dd is 9 and we happy that she is on the 10.00 plan, I can't imagine having to pay 35.00 for TS meals that she would not eat.

So next year, if we return to WDW aNd the package is still available we will have to think things through.

I figured, if we don't go for the package, she will and up eating 35.00 /day worth of food right? IT's really easy to do this at WDW, so if we take the plan next year we may pay for many of her meals and save te credits for signature places....Mickey's BYBBQ, Spirit of Aloha & HDDR. This may be an option for us.

In the meantime, maybe WDW can come up with and intermediate price for kids 10-12....maybe 17.00/day where they are allowed a kids meal + an entréée OR a dessert of their choice on the adult menu. That would be a good idea.

We are going thru the same debate. My daughter will be 10 next trip. We loved it last month when she was just $10. Saved over $500 using the meal plan.

We priced the meals we would like to try, and did find we would save $$, w/ table service, but w/ buffets it isn't such a deal.

I did notice that the Garden Grill kid price is now only for kids under 10. I wonder if the others will follow suit, since the Meal plan, is under 10 as well.
