Can I purchase the meal deal when I get to US or should I buy it before I go.

Also if you can get a meal and dessert everytime you go through the line what is stopping someone from just buying 1 meal deal and feeding everyone in your group? I understand that you get a wrist band but who to say if everyone purchased their own meal or the person with the wrist band got it.

Unless you have people who like to eat a lot, I wouldn't recommend doing the meal deal. Most meals are large enough to share so just stick with buying meals wherever you want. There are only three restaurants at each park that participate and frankly, there are much better places to eat that do not participate. You'll have to make the decision of course but most people here will say skip it.

I agree :thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice.
I 'm taking 3 teenage girls who like to eat. My thought was just to let them go on their own and I would have the expense of their lunches covered. After reading your replies and taking a closer look at what they have to offer, you all are right.
Maybe I'll just give them each $25. cash and hope that covers what they want.
Thanks again.

I'm one of the few DISers who thinks this, but the Meal Deal is worth it if you are going to be eating Lunch, Dinner, and a snack in the park. I also say it is only worth it if you are going to be in just one park (they charge you more for park to park access for MD). The Meal Deal, itself, does not include drinks, but you can add the drinks for an extra $8.99. The total is $29.98 per person ($31.94 with tax). So usually, for me (and I'm not a heavy eater; also severely allergic to ALL dairy products) my burger, fries, and soda (so not dessert) is $11. Let's say I get the same thing for dinner. Now, the total is $22. Imagine a snack costs you $5, now that's $27. Plus, add in a refill or two, dessert for dinner, and tax). If the girls are heavy eaters, than get it. If you are planning on visiting both parks in one day and/or are not going to have both lunch and dinner and a snack, than don't get it. This is just my opinion.

it's worth it for us-my husband ,son and myself. my son is a HUGE eater so it pays for him alone. we are one of the few who love Mel's- the burgers and chicken tenders. We also love the chicken dinners at Circus McG. and we eat a lot of pizza at Louies. we always end up doing the meal deal one day on each of our trips.

i'm not in the majority of what others say regarding the meal deal promo .

when i stay onsite and have 9 or 10 days in the park, i spend on of those days buying the meal deal for the studio side.

i call it my taking pictures and grazing day.
i don't do many rides but a few shows.
i shop and graze.......

the only 2 places that i eat at on grazing day is Louie's and IFFF.
(Mel's is also included in the studio meal deal promo but it's not on my list for a repeat place.)
i find many things at both places i love to eat.
i can never get enough of the pizza and salad at Louie's.

the beverages are not included but i bring back my refillable mug and get the coke at a discount with it.

if you are new to the darkside parks, you probably would not be interested in the meal deal promo.
you would have to spend more time than you would want to in order to come out ahead on the price deal.
(also, the meal deal ends 30 minutes prior to park closing.
the meal deal does not include breakfast.
it begins when the counter service places open.
i think that is about 10:30 or 11:00 each day.
if you are in the park when it does not have long hours, you would spend too much time just eating in order to break even)

and, you would be missing out on so many of the other places that have great food also.

Boulangerie is one place i could never pass up when at the studios.
