First of all I have never been to Universal. I'm baseing this question on my experience at AK and WDW resorts.

I know for instance that at AK Flame Tree BBQ, my DD and I could split one combo. Based on that, if we purchased one meal plan Univ. between the 2 of us, would one meal feed both of us? I am NOT talking about going thru the line a 2nd time. Also, do you have to stay at an on site resort to get this like at WDW plus buy the number of meals per person in the room?

You can't share a meal even if you go through the line only once.

The meal deal is for anyone, not just onsite guests. You also can purchase only one meal deal and not everyone has to purchase it in your party.

I would look at the menus though and decide if this would fit your plan. The choices and available retaurants are more limited than the Disney dining plan.

I think the plan is great if you have hungry teens and like mostly counter service. It is certainly a way to save money if you think you will eat at least twice. If you are looking for gourmet dining and sitdown restuarants, I wouldn't recommend it though.

I just got back and i was quite happy with the meal deal. i paid the $24.99 for 2 park option which included the 4 city walk restaurants. The city walk restaurants were, Pat O Bryan, Bob Marley, Pastamore, and Latin Quarters.
I went to Latin Quarter and had the marinated pork loin (which was excellent) and on the menu it was $15.99 alone. even though it only includes regular coffee, they gave me a free cappuccino!!!! I felt it was a good deal and i wouldn't say that i am a big eater. The basic fare to choose from is pizza, hamburgers, fried chicken and surprisingly no hotdogs. It also includes the chinese food (which i found was a huge portion) and the fruit salad platters and garden salad.
I would not hesitate to purchase the meal deal since i opted to do the fantasmic dinner at hollywood and vine (MGM) and it cost me $24.99 for just the one meal. I feel that the food isn't as good as it I remember. The "prime rib" was well done and i like medium rare. the chef even said that he would throw another flank steak on and cook it to medium rare (didn't know that Americans call flank steak "prime rib") :confused3
The citywalk restaurants are available from 5:00 - 10:00 so if you were really hungry and staying on Universal property, you could technically grab a 5:00 dinner...go back do a few more rides and come back and eat again at 10:00 (or atleast the last possible sitting). Beats the park food.

hi,

thanks
kim

Hi a quick ? for phantom do you know if the citywalk restaurants will still be on the plan in late March when park is closing at 8pm?
Thanks
Steve

I honestly don't know. They haven't decided or if they have decided, they haven't let anyone know yet.
