After reading a ton of threads here about the Magical Express, I feel semi comfortable using it. However, what if there is a piece of luggage I absolutely want with me at all times once I'm off the plane?

I have a 2 year old and am taking his stroller with us. I have our carry on stuff situated so that I'll have his necessities (diapers, snacks, etc), but how do I handle the stroller. We're arriving early enough that we'll be going to the parks.

How do you handle strollers and DME?

Thanks.

Fold up the stroller and store it under the bus.

I'm assuming you'll be gate checking the stroller. If so, then they will have it ready for you when you deplane....just put your child in it, head for DME counter, when you get to the bus, child comes out, stroller goes underneath the bus. It comes out again when you get to the resort....easy peasy as my dd says!!!

DME only has "automatic" delivery of regular checked luggage. Since you will be gate checking your stroller, you'll be getting it back on the jetway before you enter the airport building. Thus, DME will never have its hands on your stroller, you'll be in complete control of it after it's returned to you on the jetway. As is posted above, when you get to the DME bus you fold it up and the driver will stow it under the bus for you, and when you arrive at your resort the driver will unload it for you. And please don't forget to tip the driver for that service!

Ok, can someone explain "gate checking". I feel like an idiot asking, but am completely confused. I've only flown once before and that was for our Disney Honeymoon.

No worries...I didn't know what it was until we had a little one either! It's been a couple of years since we flew, so someone please correct me if anything has changed.

When you check in, let the attendant know that you're gate checking the stroller; they'll give you a tag to attach to it. You can then keep it with you until you board the plane. Just before you board, fold it and leave it at the end of the walkway, a little off to the side. The attendants will see to it that it is loaded onto the plane. When your flight arrives, it should be there waiting for you as you get off. Load up your little one and your carry-ons, and away you go!

Have a great trip!
